I am using a rift CV1 but would like a bit more clarity, If I am only playing DCS, Elite dangerous and car racing sims, do I need the base station and the controllers with the cosmos elite or can I get away with the headset only.

Thanks

You would need at least a base station, 2 would be preferable  but should be able to get by with one.

This is a nightmare, I was waiting for the deca gear but it looks like that will be a no go, so was going to get the meta quest 2 seeing as a facebook account is no longer pushed on you, but they have gone up a hundred pounds, reverb g2 sounds the best for the price but I am concerned about the sweet spot and the clarity out of the sweet spot.

The reason I was considering the cosmos elite is because the headset has dropped to 349 pounds on Amazon for the headset only.

For flight sims Reverb G2 is hard to beat especially for the price.

Thanks, the reverb g2 is the one I keep coming back to, but it grates me that in America you could get it for about $450 last year or the year before and here it is still nearly £600. Quest 3 is going back to OLED but is probably over a year away.

Just trying to prioritise what I am going to buy, VR headset, DD wheel base or a 3080 12 gig, everything I am using at the minute works, but I could have better, and it could be more immersive, but everything I have at the minute works, yeah, yeah, you all know the conversation you have in your head.

Hi Bearskin,

Never tried a Cosmos, but from the various reports I've red, sweet spot is pretty crappy on this one... Maybe a Cosmos owner could tell you more about this particular point, I know @BIGNEWY used to have one.

Coming from an Occulus product, I'm afraid you'll have to deal with a sweet spot reduction as a compromise. Don't know about the CV1, but I used to run a Rift S before switching to Reverb G2, and I must say that Occulus/meta products seem to have the best sweet spot in the Fresnel lenses court. May be the Pimax, I heard that it was also quite large.

If this is your main request, the other way would be to go for aspheric lenses such as the Aero, but from a price point of view, it's all different story...

I use a reverb G2 now, my son has my old cosmos, it was a great headset, but not as good as the G2. Not sure about the elite, but from my experience with the cosmos I dont have any complaints, it serverd me well.

Thanks all for the replies, looks like I am going to go for the G2, I have just seen on the HP USA store, labour day sale G2 V2 $399, an ex girlfriend just blew into town so I told her I was going to New York for 2 weeks, "so I could avoid seeing her", wish I had gone now, could be coming back with a G2.🤣

I stumbled upon this yesterday while looking around the net "pico neo 3 link", the specs look exactly the same as a quest 2 but they are £100 cheaper and come with the link cable. I have watched the you tubes on it but there aren't many so I am not sure on clarity and sweet spot. Is anyone here using one ?

Also just wondering are there any benefits from say the G2 having 2 x lcd binocular and the pico or quest2 having single lcd binocular.

So after a bit of digging, it seems the single lcd binocular only has 3 IPD settings, the pico neo 4 and 4 pro looks like it is coming in September, the pro to equal the meta cambria with hand and face tracking. The pico neo 4 looks like it will have 2160 x 2160 resolution but with pancake lenses instead of Fresnal. Things are looking good in the VR market

Yes nukeproof the neo 4 definitely looks like a contender, I wonder what the pancake lenses are going to be, maybe edge to edge clarity ? but the 2160 x 2160 is up there with the G2 and possibly a wider FOV.

Here we go

Big let down on the Pico 4, no link cable for PCVR, just a wireless dongle to be announced and only 105 FOV. Decent specs though 2160x2160 pancake lenses with a big, sweet spot. Pass through camera, motorised IPD.

So, great I guess if you want to play beatsabre. Maybe the wireless dongle might surprise me, just have to wait for the reviews.
