Mikka Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Hi guys - self-confessed Forum Thicko here.... again! So I'm still getting to grips with the basics of DCS - and I mean the basics! However, looking down the road a bit I'm beginning to come across terms like VR and HMD. I'm assuming I'm going to need some more USB ports which I don't have hence my question: Is it possible to purchase a 1 into 2 (or 3 or 4) USB thingy whereby I can plug some sort of adaptor into 1 USB port and have 2 (or 3 or 4) new ports available to plug in more hardware? Hope you understand what I'm trying to say? Basically need more USB ports! Thanks in advance.
Tom Kazansky Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 (edited) I use a 4 port USB hub for my HOTAS, and 2 extra Keyboards. Works fine for things that don't need extra power. There are powered hubs for those too. Edit: Just search for "USB hub" in stores. Edited August 30, 2022 by Tom Kazansky
Hiob Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 (edited) For input devices, a very generic unpowered USB2.0 Hub will do. I run my complete Hotas and Pedals through such a device and TrackIR, mouse and keyboard through a second. And I would strongly recommend NOT using a USB3.X Hub unless you positively need to for a USB3 device. USB3.X is much more likely to cause/have compatibility issues with certain devices. DishDoggie Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 (edited) I just had to deal with this on my computer after buying this P.O.S. Unit. Do NOT Buy this. It burnt up my Internal Card after plugging it into it and turning on the ports I wanted to use. null YOU need to buy this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0838XY4D2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details You will need the Type C and the Internal Card that is POWERED If your VR has a Type C plug like the HP G2 has. I just put this card in to replace the one the HUB screwed up. around $38.00 better that then a Motherboard this plugs into the PCIe x1 slot on the Motherboard. Edited August 30, 2022 by DishDoggie 3
Mikka Posted August 30, 2022 Author Posted August 30, 2022 So grateful guys for the replies. Don't know what I'd do without this Forum. Got plenty of info to mull over and decide what's best for my setup. I didn't know all this gear existed but very relieved I'll be able to make it all work at the end of the day! THANK YOU for all the replies! 4
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 I spent like $16 on a USB hub for my CH HOTAS and have completely forgotten it exists. Yeah, it's a pretty easy fix. 1 Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
