Phil C6 Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Hi, In F16 with aim9x i get easily to lock with HMCS the target (with aim9x seeker, without radar lock) with uncage and enable buttons, but i don't get to reproduce it with the F18 have you tips about it please? Best regards
Phil C6 Posted August 31, 2022 Author Posted August 31, 2022 (edited) Hi I didn't talk of bug i asked for tips But it seems (from Chuck's Guide) my question is about a things not yet fully implemented: Quote The JHMCS allows you to use “Up Look cueing”, which slaves the AIM 9 X seeker to Up Look reticles (they are visible if you zoom out) In DCS, Up Look cueing is available as follows 1. Set Master Mode to A/A 2. Select AIM 9 X Sidewinder missile (Weapon Select Switch DOWN) 3. Set TDC (Throttle Designator Controller) priority to the Helmet Display by pressing Sensor Control Switch FWD 4. Press the Sensor Control Switch AFT to enter Up Look Cueing 5. Uncage AIM 9 X (Cage/Uncage button on the throttle) and place Up Look Reticle on target, which allows you to launch AIM 9 X missiles beyond radar limits Note this function is not fully implemented yet Best regards Edited August 31, 2022 by Phil C6
Foka Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 AFAIK it works ok. If you don't have target radar locked, 9X's warhead will follow your HMD line od sight. If missile finds target you need to press AND HOLD Uncage button, so 9X will stay on target.
WhatAmIDoingHere Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) I'm "new" o DCS and I learned the F-16 first. I find the F-16 more straight forward in terms of aircraft systems. I recently picked up the F-18 and I want to bang my head against the wall. The radar seems to work much better and easier on the F-16 including when dog fighting with the HMD. I do love the TWS on the F-18 though. I feel your pain. Spoiler Edited September 4, 2022 by WhatAmIDoingHere
