ASE Chaff is forced to SAFE when weight-on-wheels and GND ORIDE is off

This wasn't the case with earlier versions. For some reason we can't un-safe the chaff anymore with T1 on the WPN-ASE format page. Only works when master arm is on. If you switch master arm off, chaff automatically returns to safe as well.

Seems a bit counterintuitive. I may want to defend against (often longer range) radar missiles even in situations I am not engaging targets (master arm off).

Is this intended to not work anymore?

It is not. The Chaff should only be forced to SAFE if weight-on-wheels and GND ORIDE is off. I'll look into it when I get back to my computer this afternoon.

@Rongor, I just tested in Open Beta, and I could successfully arm the Chaff while the Master Arm was still Safe. I couldn't arm it while on the ground unless I enabled GND ORIDE, which was correct. And when the Chaff was Armed with GND ORIDE off and airborne, the Chaff automatically went to Safe when touching down to weight-on-wheels, which was also correct.

I can confirm this is the complete behavior with it. Reason for my report was the difference to the preceding builds, when we could arm the chaff on the ground, regardless of master arm state, when now we can only do this with master arm on in gnd override.

If this is the correct behavior and the recent patch in fact 'fixed' it, then all is good.

Would be nice if such stuff is in the change notes so it avoids confusion like this.

Yes, sometimes things are missed in the patch notes. It happens, and the question was answered.
