Framerate is 80 instead of 90 fps in menu in VR (even went down to 65 or so in one of my experiments when I deleted the DCS folder in Saved Games).

For me this is a meaningful loss of fps, given how hard it is to get good performance, also I have always had solid 90 fps in the menu regardless of settings.

CPU frametime seems to be very low so it looks to be something related to the GPU. I updated Nvidia drivers, windows itself, and I'm on DCS latest version. I deleted fxo and metashaders folders in Saved Games/DCS to no effect.  I have a 2080 Ti, Reverb G2, 64 GB RAM and M2 ssd. No settings have changed since the onset of this issue.
Please advise! Thanks in advance

Thank you

@flappie thank you for the quick reply. I'll go through everything in those links and try, but first I wanted to say that a lot of these optimizations I already worked through (I have thousands of hours in DCS VR) and resulted happily in usable fps, (in the end strongly helped by OpenComposite for OpenXR and OpenXR Toolkit Companion App).

The weird thing is this sudden appearance of this framedrop in menu which is completely unprecedented. I was hoping that could give a more educated eye some clue but of course this might just be some obscure issue.

I've looked at frametimes - it's not the CPU, it's the GPU! Not sure it helps at all. I really am out of ideas.

I will look at the links but again it does seem like the list of things I went through painstakingly through months of graphics optimization to get my VR experience to work well.

Again thanks for your time, please do let me know if there is anything else I should think of.

also very very strangely if i run the game in 2D the frame stays around 64 fps

In the game menu or once in the cockpit?

If you have an Export.lua file in your "Saved Games/DCS.../Scripts" folder, please attach it here.

Silly question, have you modified in the nvidia control panel or in DCS the vsync in some way?...last time I upgraded the nvidia driver it reset all my settings.

I guess you have checked it, but sometimes the solution is a silly thing like that. Remember the tech guys mantra (are your computer plugged in?)

hi firefox! thanks for the reply. not silly at all, sometimes it's the silliest thing, i know what you mean. sadly yes i did check all nvidia settings and they're all correct (sadly i know them almost by heart now, after previous months of optimizations!) Vsync is off in DCS too.

in the game menu. i will get an export.lua, if there is one, as soon as i'm back in the studio. thanks again Flappie

meanwhile, while i get the Export.lua file, an update: I had the time to overview these links, sadly they are things I am quite familiar with after a long long time optimizing DCS for VR, and all settings are set properly. I reinstalled DCS, WMR, Nvidia drivers. Will write back when i have the lua file, thx again!

So I just noticed this problem (my frame rate in menu only, was constrained to 60 something in 2d), my fix was to go into NVCP and change the max frame rate to 1000 (it was set to OFF), go into game and my frame rate in menu was now back to 180 or so, and then exit and then go back to NVCP and turn max frame rate back to OFF... and in game it still seems to be constrained (again only in the 2d menu)

I was playing with max frame rate to see if it had any impact in VR, it didn't, but i wonder if it is more "sticky" than we had thought.

also setting NVCP Vsync to fast also seems to fix the "issue"
