CMDRennie Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Nearly all of my time in DCS is played with the cockpit pilot model disabled. I suspect the majority of players also play like this, as the pilot's body blocks the view to switches on the left and right consoles. This is a shame, as some modules have detailed and animated models that hardly ever get seen. My proposed solution is for the curser to act like an 'x-ray flashlight' that makes the part of the pilot model the curser is moving over to be transparent so you can interact with the switches behind it. This could be expanded to other parts of the cockpit that obscure switches, like UFCs and the lip under the canopy seal. 2
Gunnar81 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Brilliant, would 100% agree. An option in the options menu maybe? 2

Although personally I'm not bothered by occasionally simply switching off/on the pilot body (I use a key bind on my hotas), I'm not against this wish. This might be a good temporary solution until the body/arms just move out of the way when the cursor goes over it. No offence meant to anyone, but I don't really get why so many people seem to have so much issues with the pilot body blocking the left and right consoles. What are you guys doing there? . Apart from the startup procedure and maybe to flip the AAR switch, I never really touch the consoles. 1 System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH
Hiob Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 There are probably complaints about realism incoming…. but this idea is actually brilliant! 2 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

I think its more an option for some players that aren't using VR or head tracking or have limited hotas type setups so keybindings are a hot commodity or moving the view over the pilots arms or whatever may be in the way is a bit of a pain in the ass if you are using the mouse as your main view controller. 1
