That looks like the Altitude mission? Anyway, it's not normal. I get detailed textures throughout.

No it's the 'dusk' mission. I did change something to do with haze when i first got the game as the mountains in the distance were flickering. Do you think that has anything to do with it?

I get this too.

I think, but am not sure, it has something to do with this.:dunno:

BTW. I did not alter Haze.

what hardware specs? video card , memory, drivers etc..

anything over clocked?

there are 2 possibilities at least as i see it

you video card is running out of memory or the ram is corrupted due to overclocking need your system specs first though before we can help with anything.

or the installation didn't complete and you are missing textures..

AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+

4gb ram

Nvidia 8600gt

Nothing overclocked.

It's always exactly the same places that the texture is missing and all at the same altitude.

Tried that and no difference. I updated my nvidia drivers and now the game locks up after a long flight and i have to restart the computer.

yea, the 8600gt pretty low budget and with only 256Mb of onboard memory it is probably being pushed by DCS blackshark pretty good.. (the lock up is probably over heating)

my guess is its just running out of memory and the texture isn't being loaded.

I think there is a way to display the memory usage statistics. I'd look in that direction. what is your texture quality setting?

It run absolutly fine with the old driver though and usually around 40-50 fps. The texture setting is on medium. Why that texture and not any others? My thoughts are it wasn't installed corredtly. Is there any way to check if i'm missing any textures?

To me it looks like it is overheating. Have you considered using RivaTuner to adjust your FAN settings? Missing textures and reverting to Gouraud shading are signs that the video card is overheating for me. I know because I have the same card and this happened often in Il-2 1946 until I use RivaTuner to adjust my FAN to 85% at all times.

This has not happened to me in BS however.

Looks like DCS simply runs out of memory. When starting DCS while my PC is busy, I see the textures are loaded from close to far, from low to higher ground. I'd say your 256MB are simply fully loaded, when the texture preload get's there, so you see initially loaded low-res-textures where your GFX-card ran out of memory.

some of it depends on the order the game loads the textures..

hav eyou tried the textures on the lowest setting?

also what ar eyou nvidia control panel settings? is AA/AF off?

another possibility is a feature called HyperMemory or Turbocache.. on the lower end cards, they use this feature to allow system memory to act like Video memory.. if you go into your nvidia control panel and goto system settings you would see if it was on (total memory would be higher than 256Mb). I've never liked this and what could be happening is the Turbocache (Nvidia's version) is bugged and not working correctly.

to see the memory usagei think you use the Show Framerate key twice, first to show fps , hit it again to bring up detailed statistics.. hit it a 3rd time to hide info.
