USA_Recon Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) Flew a night mission in PG and not to far away is a city with lights: I could see the road and it’s lights clearly off but had to zoom to see this big city with tons of lights . What I don’t understand is why doesn’t visibility distance allow a further distance rendering ? ED artificially caps this requiring zoom which is not very realistic (same for contrails). USA_Recon Posted November 16, 2022 Author Posted November 16, 2022 I did this on 2.8 and what I described has not changed . ED is still limiting view distance in an artificial way that is odd - seeing lighted roads through a city but not seeing the city lights is not ideal 1

In the cockpit you can just start making out a city but if you pop out to the f2 view, the whole thing is lit up like crazy! Hop back in cockpit and you can barely see the lighting until you’re up pretty close. Scaley Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Are any of you on widescreen monitors? If you are DCS interprets the wide screen as being zoomed out and will reduce the draw distances. There is a workround, but it breaks other things, requiring some lua editing, which in turns breaks something else requiring more lua editing.
