Just built a new rig with a 13th gen i7 and 4090. Really happy with VR now but of course now I’m feeling I’m leaving something on the table in regards to my HMD. currently on the q2. Love it’s ease of use and that I can go wireless, I’ve been looking at the g2, pimax 8k, varjo, hell even a review of the quest pro made me consider it. I’m also thinking just wait for the quest 3 next year. Anyone upgrade from the quest2 and have a perspective you can share?

Depending on what part of the world you are in - HP currently has sale on the Reverb G2 for $299. Best bang for the buck VR headset imho.

Also depending on how serious a VR gamer you are - the Varo Aero is currently the cream of the crop, but expensive. Varjo currently is offering $300 off for Black Friday deal. But it is still costly especially by the time you add in the Lighthouse trackers and controllers. I have been running one since late Jan. and love it.

But yeah that Reverb G2 is a heck of a bargain and a good headset.

I only use VR for DCS and MSFS. my concern with the Aero is the FOV (and that it needs external tracking). It’s a few degrees wider than the q2 but it’s also shorter vertically than the q2. That doesn’t bother you?

Just switched from a Valve Index to Pico 4. The incredible weightlessness and balance, pancake lenses, FOV and panel resolution plus the easy to use Virtual Desktop connection were a real positive surprise to me. Check this thread:

Aero has one big big thing going for it: The very high clarity / enormously wide sweet spot. Everything is clear on 80% of the lense.  This is important for spotting in DCS.  IMO no point having 180deg FOV if a distant aircraft will not register in the blurry space outside of what is just in front of your eyes.   If FOV is what you prefer though...pimax is your friend.

Yeah vertical fov is not so great. For me the image clarity outweighs that, for others that are more sensitive to the fov it may be a bigger factor. I am very much used to it now and no it does not bother me.

I Tried the quest a few months ago and coming from a Pimax, it was very "tunnel vision" and restrictive.  An 8K is not cheap and you need the lighthouse (controllers are optional if only DCS) but the increase in FOV add so much to the immersion.

Try a Pimax, you will never go back to potato vision.

I've owned a G2, Index, Vive, Pimax, and Varjo Aero and the Aero stands supreme for DCS, with the index probably being my second favorite

I910900K, 4090, 32gb,Varjo Aero, no compromises: all VR all the time.
