LOW_Hitman Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 After the last oculus quest software update iam not able to run dcs without the following issue: When in the cockpit i get terrible flickering - its similar to tearing or like the oculus has problems to keep a fixed position. FPS are good but with this flickering its not playable. I tried nearly all to solve this issue - reset oculus and reinstalled the updates - repair of dcs - different settings in OTT - different settings in nvidia panel All other games are playable without any issues so its a problem between dcs and oculus after this patch. Oculus support cant help, they told me that i have to wait for an dcs patch... useless... Anyone else with this issues and maybe a workarround?? LOW_Hitman Posted December 10, 2022 Author Posted December 10, 2022 (edited) Maybe to discribe this issue better - its a kind of "glitching" or "extrem ghosting" Edited December 10, 2022 by LOW_Hitman i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4

Fangs Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 (edited) I use the oculus tray tool and i didn't need to make any adjustments after the update. I also used this page as a guide https://nickrroberts.com/a-beginners-startup-guide-to-dcs-world-in-vr/ Edited December 10, 2022 by Fangs
LOW_Hitman Posted December 11, 2022 Author Posted December 11, 2022 After a few sessions of testing... other games work perfect so its a oculus-dcs issue. Sometimes a few seconds or minutes it works as expected - but then the flickering is back again - when i move my head its like the cockpit is moving with me, or parts of the cockpit. Like the headset has problems to hold the position. Is there a way to make the position more "stable"? i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4
dutchili Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 have you tried OpenXR? (install from Windows play store ("OpenXR tools for Windows Mixed Reality") -> run app, set OpenXR runtime as active -> play DCS)
LOW_Hitman Posted December 11, 2022 Author Posted December 11, 2022 this is the "standard" used tool or not? because in the oculus app its showing up "use OpenXR - YES" or isn't it? whats the difference of this app or what is the standard app? iam not using SteamVR i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4
Lange_666 Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Oculus supports OpenXR nativly, no need to go through the Windows Mixed Reality hub, no need to use SteamVR either. 1 Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. LOW_Hitman Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 (edited) tried it - didnt help. I have no idea... 1 softwareupdate on my headset and its over... wtf.... i saw that in the options of the oculus software - the resolution setting is different to the version before: - Before i had: 120hz - Rendering 1.3 - 4224 x 2128 - now it's: 120hz - Rendering 1.5 - 4224 x 2128 why the render setting is different to the version before is not clear and maybe this is causing the terrible flickering and tearing. But i've tried 1.3 with a lower resolution and this also didn't worked Edited December 12, 2022 by LOW_Hitman i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4
LOW_Hitman Posted December 15, 2022 Author Posted December 15, 2022 short update... After a hint from another VR player i tried the following: Fixed fps in graphics.lua at 60 fps (because my setting in the oculus app is 120hz) testet 3 flights without issues - will test it again to make sure the issue is solved... i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4

Ditch the tray tool, ditch the super sampling. Reset all oculus settings to default. Just set highest you can go in oculus software resolution. Trying to run 120hz with supersampling isn't a good idea
LOW_Hitman Posted December 15, 2022 Author Posted December 15, 2022 hi, supersampling is set to 1.0 in OTT - so not increased And a month ago and a few hours ago it worked, it worked perfect. Good FPS - no stutters, and then ... a oculus quest update and all is fu.. up... A few hours ago it worked ... 3 flights.. no issues.. perfect fps... and a pc restart .. and all is gone... I tried what you said - disabled OTT - set 120hz and SS to auto, also flickering i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4

LOW_Hitman Posted December 16, 2022 Author Posted December 16, 2022 (edited) i've tried Oculus solo - problem not solved - on the other hand perfomance is a lot better when using OTT. Strange thing, downloaded the last update in the oculus app (beta) 4 Testflights without any issues.... i'll try it test it to make sure the problem is solved... wtf.?!?!? desolunatic Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Hmm, doing a factory reset of the Quest and re-installing the Oculus software in Windows fixed that issue for me the last time I had it, but had to do both at the same time.

Sounds like you are signed up for using public betas for Oculus. Maybe that last one wasnt 100%. Personally I don't do this anymore after experiencing a couple of mildly broken ones. I can wait for proper versions. Edited December 17, 2022 by Hoirtel
Lange_666 Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 And even then i wait for the update to install after i didn't find any major issues. Moxica Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 (edited) I started running everything default: No OTT, no Oculus debug tool, Nvidia control panel to default, but I've turned ground shadows to "Off" and I set clouds/weather to "Nothing" in mission editor. 72 Hz, 3616x1840. Pixel density to 1.3 in DCS. I adjust gamma between 1,6 and 2,2 depending on mission. Double vision mostly (as good as) gone. Never looked or run better than today.
