Wingless091 Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 I purchased the full BS3 module on steam and was expecting to receive BS2 with it the same way you get the original A-10C when you purchase the A-10CII module. Is this not supposed to be the case?
jubuttib Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 I don't think so, BUT the BS3 version easily turns into the BS2 version. In the mission editor you can select the configuration of the helicopter, selecting the older option makes it identical to the BS2 version. But I guess that doesn't really help you if the campaign or server you want to use it on doesn't support BS3 yet... 2
TAIPAN_ Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 You can swap the module in campaigns by editing the XML files in each mission using a find and replace. The .miz files are just zip files, associate them with winzip and they will open. It's a bit tedious opening them one by one but I managed it with some older A-10 missions. EagleBeak Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I expected the same thing and am pretty upset to find otherwise. I feel very fortunate that I owned BS2 before ED decided to stop selling it. BS2 has over a decade of missions and campaigns supporting it that are now totally unavailable to people who didn't happen to buy BS2 sooner! For example, I just convinced my little brother to start flying the Ka-50 with me. Unfortunately, he only decided to get it 2 days after the BS3 module was released and ED dropped the bomb on BS2. Now the only missions we have to play together are the 5 that come with BS3. 10 years of campaigns just became useless overnight! I'm seriously considering buying a key from someone online to activate BS2 for my little brother. This is just unbelievable. This is exactly why ED included the A-10C with purchases of A-10C II. 2

You can still make them work, but it is a faff... =(
TAIPAN_ Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 To be honest the reason I uninstalled BS2 is because I don't want the old buggy missions anymore. Blackshark was the first ever DCS module, those campaigns like Georgian Oil War go waaaaaaay back. Though I'm biased because I've already flown them and just do MP for the shark now. If you want to keep the old campaigns, it's very easy to convert and share them around. I found two already done. Georgian Oil war converted for the BS3 here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328052/ Deployment can be found here https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328007/ The single missions can be loaded and swapped manually in the mission editor, there are BS2 versions of them available for download on the same user files site if you don't have them. 2 Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods

Thank you for sharing these converted campaigns! It took a long time for the A-10C campaign designers to convert theirs to A-10C II. I figured it would be the same for BS3. 1
M1Combat Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 (edited) "BS2 has over a decade of missions and campaigns supporting it that are now totally unavailable to people who didn't happen to buy BS2 sooner!" Well that's just not true. Any single mission can be converted in the mission editor in like 12 seconds. Maybe a few will have bugs but in large part I think they'll work great. Campaigns take a bit more but are also super doable. Just ask around :). Small tip for you and your brother... You can also use the Mission Editor to make sure there are both BS2 and BS3 aircraft available. One drawback to this is that if the primary aircraft gets destroyed it's likely that the programming of the mission will not allow the second aircraft to trigger mission progress. You could fix that... but that's well beyond the scope of my post :). grimnir Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I would gladly pay for Deployment and Oil war campaigns for BS3… if all missions worked.
Dragon1-1 Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 (edited) Bringing the missions over was mentioned, so I'm waiting for that. There's a lot of content to port over, so it'll probably take time. I hope the 3rd party campaigns get updated soon, as well. Edited December 31, 2022 by Dragon1-1
DSplayer Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 I was hoping I would get BS2 access after buying BS3 as well even if BS2 is sorta outdated like how the Warthog was done. In Special options, you can select the 2011 version which removes the new toys, but is still otherwise BS3.
