I have tried the Training Day LANTIRN mission twice now and the white cars get stuck in the checkpoint. After the car I am following stops, I hear the radio call that CHALK should move, but one of the white cars is just parked by the checkpoint and the second white car is just driving in circles

Thanks for finding that. It seems the last patch broke something with vehicle pathfinding, they now start driving circles when driving through an outpost - which is unfortunately bad news also for the Reforger Part II campaign, heh.

I fixed Training Day, and you can download it here, I got rid of the outpost and built a custom checkpoint, and I had to adjust the vehicle speeds, slopes seem to affect them less now, etc.

Simply download the attached mission and drop into your main install Eagle Dynamics\DCS World (Openbeta)\Mods\aircraft\F14\Missions\Quickstart folder and replace the existing mission.

 

My apologies for the inconvenience. EDIT: NOTE: This version requires the WW2 Asset pack. Find a version without the requirements a few comments below please. Thank you.

OMG, I wish I saw this earlier.  I just spent about 2 hours doing this mission and I got to the point that the original poster did.  When the SEALs were told to go in and snatch the HTV, I circled overhead for more than 20 minutes and I'm like, you;d think the SEALs would have gotten him by now!  So I gave up after about 20 minutes of circling--the bad guys were stuck at the checkpoint like he said in the above and no one was moving.

I'll try again with the new mission--I take it this will be in the next patch?

BTW, when you refuel with the tanker, what is the trigger to progress in the mission.  I kept taking on fuel over and over (not that great at it yet) and it wasn't until many many times that he retracted his baskets and took off and I was told to go to the mission area.  Is the trigger full tanks?  Because I was thinking you don't necessarily need full tanks to prosecute...Or is the trigger just take on say 2000 lbs then disengage and the mission will progress?

Afaik you can just join up and leave.

I just tried to do the Training Day mission that was made available here on Dec 22.  WHile loading, it crashes saying I need WWII Armor and Technics Modules.

Try opening it in the mission editor and resaving it please. I am pretty sure no ww2 assets were used anywhere in the mission.

Hi,

just tried the training day. For some reason, Jester wasn’t finding the SAMs. I flew at different altitudes, level, circling, none of that helped. Then when I broke the hard deck just to see if the SAMs are there, they most certainly were 🙂

I am on the stable version, 2.8. Should I download this updated file even though it says it’s for open beta?

edit: I had another run at it. Figured that when I switched to Jester’s seat that might have messed up the mission previously. So this time I stayed in pilot’s seat. Jester found the SAMs this time. 
however, when I get sent to refuel, the TACAN does not work. I tune to 31Y, tried both T/R and A/A, tried to have Jester tune to it, it was not finding the tanker. Radio comm with tanker worked (I was able to check in). Tacan otherwise worked when I tuned it to the carrier. When I looked on the map, I did not see a tanker anywhere. Bug?

Doesn't matter, both are the same version currently.

Tanker might be hidden on the map, a2a TACAN might be broken, try to follow the general direction from messages and find it with radar.

And LOL for finding the SAM the hard way 🙂

Here's the updated version without the WWII Assets (apologies for that!), and also the tankers fixed. I simply replaced them entirely, it seems updating the tacan adv wp option didnt help previously. They should work now. Note: you have to be in T/R for tankers, not A/A.

All fixes will be included in the coming patch.

I finally found the time to try the mission as patched and updated stock as part of the beta update.

 

SPOILER ALERT:

It worked fine, the only problem I had was when I was ordered to fly to Kashuri and have Jester QWP to WP2.  I couldn't get him to set the LANTIRN to WP2, so I set it myself.  But it was showing a WP west of us rather than east.  So I set a map marker east of Kashuri and had him add it as a fixed point.  It still showed a WP west.  Same with IP.  So as a last resort, I put the coordinates for Kashuri myself.  It still refused to show the correct waypoint direction in the HSI.  So eventually I just F10 mapped my way to Kashuri and just went from there.  I noticed that Jester would not be able to find targets but since I had eyes on it didn't matter.  I did get worried though if we were tasked to kill anything

I was delighted that the target made it past the bus station and checkpoint, I could finally go on in the mission!  Also, when the Turks show up, Jester seemed to be able to take over LANTIRN ops as briefed.

The theatrics and voiceovers of this mission were great, you guys did a great job on it.  What I thought was really great about it was that it was what I expect a typical F-14 Bombcat mission would be like in terms of you may be circling over a target over and over but may never get the shot.  The mission took 2 hours and I never got to drop, which sucks, but this is what could happen IRL.  And yet it was still gratifying.  The anticipation of what will happen next is great, and in this particular case (I took the moral high ground) the results from my decision were harrowing, but probably happens more often than we know.  Which would suck, but that's life, right?

That's what I did, I put in the coordinates but it had no effect.  I put the coordinates in for waypoint and had steering mode in DEST, the caret was showing I should fly west instead of east.  So I put a map marker wast of Kashuri and told Jester to set it to waypoint 2.  That failed so I had him set it to fixed point, and that failed so I had him set it to IP, which also failed--the caret would always be bearing around 270.  So I went in the back and did it myself, for WP2, IP, fixed..same thing.

That's when I just used the F10map to navigate.

I did hit the 2 targets and made the decision to take the mission.  I just left that out of my latest post because it was irrelevant--I was posting about finally being able to make it past the former bug point where the enemy would be stuck at the one spot and not move.

That is a possibility.  I don't think I did but maybe I overstressed the frame and didn't notice.  Or maybe it is VAICOM Pro related.  In any case, no harm, no foul, I found a way to get it working.

I just looked at my video on it and there might be one other factor:

The coordinates given were 41 deg 50 min 4 seconds.  Not remembering that in the Tomcat it is degrees-minutes-tenths-of-a-minute, I put in 41504 when I should have put in 41501. Same with easting.  Could .3 minutes have made such a huge difference?  Maybe, maybe not.  But I would think that the WP would be still pretty close to where the correct WP would be.

Hello! Unfortunately didn't work for me, even after I replaced the original mission file, the trailing cars still got stuck driving in circles at the checkpoint =(

There was a brief moment when the lead car got back on track, but then the trailing vehicle got stuck in the same loop, and I helplessly watched it for 45 minutes while cheering it up, but to no avail -_-

Is there anything I can do to help it on the way?..

Oh, and also the TACAN for the tanker didn't work as well. I suspected I didn't replace the mission, so I rechecked - the file is new.

Did DCS break this mission again? did it 2 nights ago and the SEAL teams got stuck at the first check point- not circling just stopped. I went to bingo and decided to strafe the hell out of the HVT and killed him. Mission failed when I flew back to the carrier. Romeo is going to kill me if CAG doesn't do it first. Jester complained about being hungry the whole time.
