Deviation/Localizer Circle no longer appears

Sorry for the consecutive posts but anyways
I think ever since I've updated to the 2.8 Stable Version, the Su-27's HUD Deviation/Localizer Circle no longer appears. The Navigation/glideslope circle, HSI and HDD displays are fine though.

In the pics are two different airfields, first in Al Minhad then Mineralnye Vody

Don’t know about the first (and don’t have an opportunity to check) but Mineralnye Vody, if memory serves, does not have the required PRMG landing system. Try Mozdok which does and see if it works there.

I see, so i guess Russian FC jets can only do precision approaches on certain airfields now?

I always thought the Su-27, being an FC3 plane, only have "instant" ILS modes.. since we can't really tune to the proper ILS, beacons, TACAN or whatever navaids the map has^^

I tried at Mozdok.. I guess you're right.
How do we know if a given airfield has the PRMG system installed?

It's been that way for years, if not since the start. There are, I think 6 approaches in total in the Caucasus. In the ME, their approach information is in blue. All the rest are in white. It may be the same for other maps. I've never bothered to check.

It's simplified systems modeling, so only some nav systems are available and all freqs are set automatically, depending on landing airport choosen, ex.

- TACAN is only for western birds in A2A, just to find the tanker direction, no range

- no ADF and radio beacons apart from near and far runway localizer

- ILS for western birds and PRMG for eastern ones as selected

- ATC radio as selected

- waypoint (and airports) nav as selected (INS)

So I assume this isn't a bug and really more of a feature now?

Back in 2.7, you could have that Deviation Circle in every airfield of any map, although I only have the Default Caucasus, Persian Gulf & Marianas.

It's not a bug and @Ironhand already told you - it was always like that. Only a few of Caucasus airports have "russian ILS".

I don't know how current the info is here but check it out:

If by "Deviation Circle" you mean the little circle and not the larger Director Circle, that was certainly not the case for the Caucasus and I don't recall ever seeing it on the Persian Gulf map. As for the Caucasus, check the date in this discussion

and I've been involved in a number of similar discussions since then.

In a sense though, you are right in that you could make a precision landing at any airfield. You still can. Keep the director circle centered in the aircraft datum, while coming down the glide slope, and you'll end up on the tire marks. That's true for the Caucasus and PG maps and, I imagine, all the other modern maps. You're just missing the smaller circle. But it's been that way for a long time.

Okay i understand now, thanks loads. I guess i didn't noticed, these changes had already been made a decade ago hhhh

I didn't really noticed, since i only started flying the Flanker again and that i only operated from Krymsk.

Last time i made the Su-27 as one of my main game jets was back in the FC 1.12B, era when all airfields still had complete ILS.

My apologies 😄
