markturner1960 Posted January 26, 2023 Share Posted January 26, 2023 Hi, new pilot here - trying to learn the bomb modes and having a big issue in keeping the HUD symbology visible in the HUD when running in....its like I need to point the nose down to see it, but of course, I dont want to do that, as I need to be flying level....there seems to be a point about halfway down the HUD where the symbology dissappears......what am I missing? System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor. Tir5. PC2 ( Helo) Scan 3XS Intel 9900 K, 32 GB Ram, 2080Ti, 50 inch Phillips monitor F/A-18C: Rhino FFB base TianHang F16 grip, Winwing MP 1, F-18 throttle, TO & Combat panels, MFG crosswind & DFB Aces seat Viper: WinWing MFSSB base with F-16 grip, Winwing F-16 throttle, plus Vipergear ICP. MFG crosswind rudders. Helo ( Apache) set up: Virpil collective with AH64D grip, Cyclic : Rhino FFB base & TM F18 grip, MFG crosswind rudders, Total controls AH64 MFD's, TEDAC Unit. TOViper Posted January 26, 2023 Share Posted January 26, 2023 If you use HD bombs, fly not higher than 150m, fly not slower than M0.8 and lower the hud. Make sure QFE is set correctly in order to see the mark on target for correct timing. Machalot Posted January 27, 2023 Share Posted January 27, 2023 There's an optimal height that depends on your speed. If you are too far above or below this height, the HUD symbols will drop lower. It takes practice. I spent time just flying around flat ground on a training mission with the trigger safety open, testing how the HUD symbols behave at different flight conditions and getting a feel for it. 1 "Subsonic is below Mach 1, supersonic is up to Mach 5.
