motoadve Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Currently I have an HP Omen with an i9 10900 K, and a 4090, DCS runs decent in VR. Want to retire this PC and make my working PC use a 2080Ti and keep the 4090 for my gaming PC. Which would be the best Intel processor /motherboard combo for DCS?
nikita_nomad Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 I'm planing on upgrade soon and i5 13600k looks very interesting
skypickle Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 why intel and not 7800x3d? 1 4930K @ 4.5, 32g ram, TitanPascal

Alternatively if sticking with Intel - 13xxx CPU with DDR4 board and rob the DDR4 out of your current system for an upgrade on the cheap. Guessing if you have a 4090 money isn't a big concern though MSI Z690 Edge | 12700k | 64GB DDR4 3200 | RTX 4080 Super | Varjo Aero

I'm curious now that we have MT whether the number of cores on a chip has an impact on performance, or not? It would be interesting to see a comparison in DCS of two systems running these different CPUs but otherwise the same RAM, GPUs etc. i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2

From the MT FAQ: What is the maximum number of threads the game can utilize? About half of P-cores are dedicated for the graphics needs. Currently the rendering pool scales up to 16 threads on P-cores (1 core = 2 threads). The other P-cores are used by the main logic thread, sound engine threads, and the auxiliary thread pool that occupy all available space. E-cores are used only by the resources streaming pool that has no limits (1 core = 1 thread). Intel E cores vs AMD L3 cache MSI Z690 Edge | 12700k | 64GB DDR4 3200 | RTX 4080 Super | Varjo Aero
Art-J Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 ^ Well, judging from some posts in the MT bugs section, right now the weaker E-cores seem to be the ones doing the work, while stronger P-cores don't seem to be doing much, if anything. Clearly not intended behaviour and I'm sure ED are on it, but I wouldn't be in hurry to buy a new CPU until they've got it sorted. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
BitMaster Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 (edited) Got a brand new Acer Intel Desktop for 1700€ on my bench to fix heat issues, it hits 95°C when playing some games. Think twice before you buy Intel's Nuclear Reactor Die. I now gotta find a cooler that fits into this tiny case and still cools better than Intel's standard cooler.... I dislike AMD's standard coolers as well but they dont get that hot with those. 95°C is THAT far from shutting off...LoL Intel. skypickle Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 well if core count is your thing look at the Intel® Xeon® w9- 3495X 56 cores 105 mb L3 cache 4.8 ghz turbo 4930K @ 4.5, 32g ram, TitanPascal
bibac Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Absuletly Intel CPU are perfect for all of work.So anybody can used that.
