Snacko Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Has anybody had problems with ships/carriers that start moving and then stop? I have 2 carriers (Forrestal & Abe Lincoln), and several escort ships. They all start to move when I start the mission, then after about 1/4 miles the Abe Lincoln stops. And the Forrestal also stops then starts again a few minutes later. And a Ticonderoga also stops about 1 mile after start.. Very strange and I see no pattern to it. They all have the same 2 waypoints with the same settings. truebrit Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Do all your waypoints have a speed above zero? rob10 Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Are you close to a coastline at all? Shallow areas can extend out and beach the ship.
Snacko Posted March 23, 2023 Author Posted March 23, 2023 I only have 2 waypoints. The starting point and another about 50 miles away. Yes, all of my waypoints have the speed set to 27kts. I set all of the ships to have the same same exact settings for waypoints, both 0 and 1. I was just thinking about that. I think I should try making them all one unit/group. I currently have 2 destroyers, 5 cruisers, and 2 carriers (each their own). But even if I do that, this should have worked as well.. GIX Posted Friday at 08:36 PM Posted Friday at 08:36 PM I had the same problem, fixed it by adjusting the fleets heading into the wind and suddenly they kept going all the time - apparently the carrier programming takes wind direction into account and stopping the ship gives aircraft taking off more wind over the wings than if the ship is moving with the wind - so there's some logic in the madness after all "Raise the landing gear and descend to operational altitude!"
