This as bothered me ever since the "Autopilot disconnect" master caution was implemented, not sure why its taken me so long to report, but here we are!!

Basically if your using CPL or Attitude Hold (maybe others too, these are the two in the track), and you manually disconnect on the ufc, the AP actually stays ON even though theres no dots, and you can feel the plane fighting your inputs, as though its on AP, so you have to quickly yank the elevator in order for the autopilot to disconnect, you get the warning, then your controls are free and clear.

Unless theres been a step added im unaware of, this doesnt seem right??

To completely disconnect the A/P you need to use the "Autopilot/Nosewheel Steering Disengage (Paddle) Switch". Look in the Options>>>Control menu and assign a button to it, if not done already.

To be sure the A/P is disconnected, "A/P" should not be displayed as an advisory in the left DDI.

De-colonizing UFC autopilot modes will enter Control Stick Steering (CSS, 'A/P' advisory) mode. This is correct as-per the NATOPS. The paddle switch is the sure-fire way to disengage all autopilot modes.
