Viciam1 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) Hi guys when using the wind corrected 105 clusters...what do i need to think about when setting the burst altitude? Is it the ground elevation at target? Like if the target is at 1985ft...do i need to change the default 105 setting in the ctrl page from default 1500ft to say...2500ft in this scenario? And if i were to leave it at 1500ft they will not go boom boom? Edited April 5, 2023 by Viciam1
Tholozor Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Burst Altitude is AGL. 1 REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/
Sinclair_76 Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 If the wind is more than 8 m/s you need to account for wind drift. Especially on narrow groupings, ie columns or arty positions. So aim slightly uowind or lower the burst height.
Viciam1 Posted April 5, 2023 Author Posted April 5, 2023 Whats a good standard burst height? Like 1000ft? oh its above agl...i see. Thanks thats helpful

void68 Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Check wind over target area, in top DED page, dubber right for wind dir and speed. Check your ingress course and adjust CCRP resp. SP windwards for wind correction, 100' or 200' for medium wind. BA of 900' AGL (you noticed the cap on the nose of the CBUs? That's the laser altitude meter measuring AGL) will make the CBU pop open at almost minimum altitude with almost no wind drift, minimum time on the chute with almost instant deploy of the skeets. 800' may result in a dud. The BLU 107 submunition (in the CBU97 and 105) is dropped out of the container in a fix manner and there is no spread at all, you just expose the submun to longer winddrift and they all drift the same. So higher BA result just in higher drift and not wider spread like the CBU87 which spread is more of a funnel type. BLU107 spread is always 1500x1000ft² if I recall it right. The buggy WCMDs isn't wind corrected at all, and it's already being reported to the devs.
