Supersonic Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 :helpsmilie:Black Shark ran great until I replaced my 7900GS 256Mb with a 8800GTS 512Mb Alphadog. Now when I klick the start menu icon I get a white screen with a small grey rectangle in the top right corner and loading along the bottom, after a few seconds I get a Launcher.exe has stopped responding quoting open32gl.dll as the cause? After changing back to the 7900GS BS started with no problems, put the 8800GTS back in and the error returned, both cards where running on the same driver? The 8800 GTS runs every other game eg FSX,Fall Out 3,GTR 2 with no problems at all,the problem has me lost for answers,I'm sick of swapping cards to play BS:pilotfly: MoBo Asus TUF X570-Plus (Wi-Fi) / CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5900X / GPU Asus TUF RTX3080 / RAM 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 @ 3600MHz / V-NAND SSD 1TB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 / PSU Corsair RM750 / CPU Cooler Corsair H100i Platinum / OS Win 10

robdem Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Launcher.exe erro with nvidia 8800GTX I have exactly the same problem with my 8800GTX, I get "Launcher.exe encountered an error" message I add that: - music plays while the white screen and message error are displayed - multiplayer menu starts correctly (I activated the sim from multiplayer exe) - disinstalled and reinstalled BS 3 times - disinstalled and reistalled Nvidia video drivers twice (last time cleaned also with Driver Sweeper) - tried with different screen resolutions - message error details are: AppName launcher.exe ModVer 5.1.2600.2180 AppVer 0.0.0.0 Offset 0006a21e ModName opengl32.dll No way, BS doesn't start ..and I have no "backup" card :-(
Zakk Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 (edited) I got rid of my 8800GTS and replaced it with a GTX 285; now when I try and launch the game I get a blank box with music. The real funny thing is that there is NO DCS process listed listed in task manager. I can't close the window, only minimize it, but the music keeps playing. Multiplayer launches, and I am able to activate. FSX works; no problems. Running lastest Nvidia drivers on Vista64 with beta upgrade to Win7. What was it doing before you fixed it with the reinstallation? I uninstall, delete everything; run CCleaner, and reinstall. Did this a million times, and it still doesn't work. I had an 8800GTS that was working just fine, but got rid of it and now it seems, that my 285GTX with current driver my be the issue. Gigabyte|Q6600|8GB DDR3|GTX285|Win7 64|X-65
robdem Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I forgot to mention: I run windows XP professional. Tried some other experiments: - BS disinstall, PC restart, registry cleaning, PC restart, BS install => Same result: white screen and error message - Launched via command line: "C:\Programmi\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" (same as the desktop link, but without "--console"). I obtained the following error: "cannot open.\BlackShark\BlackShark.lua : No such file or directory". No white screen or other messages. I checked and BlackShark.lua is present in C:\Programmi\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark directory. I red many thread relevant to Launcher problems, I hope the developers are working on this issue for a fix in the next patch..

It fired up instant action in windowed mode and I was able to fly the chopper. I exited and then the blank menu came back; clicked around a bit more and got an error message  When I start the program I see this below: After I hit the PrtScn button, it also made a screen shot file into BS folder of what I AM SUPPOSE TO SEE! What the HELL? Blah ha ha ha ah hashshshslkdsfkj.....I f-ing tricked the damn thing--2 days of PURE HELL I took my stupid screen shots of the MENU's that I could NOT see in real time and used them as underlays. I was able to get into the OPTIONS menu which wouldn't show either and got the FULLSCREEN check box checked. Was able to lower the MUSIC to OFF. Changed the res to 1600x1050 Clicked the OK button that I couldn't see. and exited. Now when I double click the SP launcher it goes to FULLSCREEN and I can see the GUI MENU. Now I am thinking this may be a RealTek HD Audio problem, or the NEW XFX GTX285 vid card. I really don't want to go BACK and FIND out....but I'll post more because I can't seem to keep myself out of trouble for long. On another note, I did notice some video glitching while in the full screen menu; when I move the mouse around I see long black bars that flash accross the screen....hmmm. There really needs to be a SAFE MODE launcher option in the NEW patch, right?DCS-20090208-183616.txt_LastMissionTrack.trkSystemlog.txt Edited February 8, 2009 by Zakk Gigabyte|Q6600|8GB DDR3|GTX285|Win7 64|X-65
robdem Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 @fraction: launched via command line from "C:\Programmi\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50" folder and, as you said, no more lua error. But as usual appeared the white box and after 2 or 3 seconds the Lancher.exe error. @Zakk: I couldn't replicate the behaviour seen on your system: I clicked a lot in the white box, but nothing new happened. PrtScn button has no effect either.

robdem Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 After you click in the white box to make that window active, hit the print screen button. Then check your Screen Shots folder in BS and see what you got. I tried again: I confirm that no screenshot are produced. I tried also the following: I hit the print screen button with the multiplayer launcher (this one works and has always worked): in this case screenshots of the interface are put in the Screen Shots folder. I'd like a developers' clue very much..

Slayer Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Even though the Nvidia video drivers are the same for 7 series - 200 series you guys shouldnt just pop in a new graphics card without first uninstalling the old drivers. If you didn't update your drivers to the new ones off Nvidia's site you might be trying to use a driver that doesn't properly recognise the hardware. What driver versions are you guys using? As far As I know this game doesnt even use OpenGL for graphics. So that error is strange. @Zakk in your error log: "Faulting module path: D:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\SDL_mixer.dll" Part of that error message you got looks like the sound mixer in the game crashing? I'd highly suspect the Realtek audio. I would try updating your driver: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false With Windows7 there is a beta driver from nvidia for that OS on windows update, you should use that. Zakk Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 With Windows7 there is a beta driver from nvidia for that OS on windows update, you should use that. Read here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/windows_7.html And you know what? Nothing; I got ZIP from M$ update, nor was I able to download this mystry driver from Nvida.com--they talk about it, but it's no where to be found. I think maybe my PC got very very sick by upgrading Win7 over Vista while installing NEW hardware; add my very aggressive CCleaner deletions, and my game was up. Something really messed up my OS HD, and I damn near couldn't even get it operational again to reinstall Vista64. I am now averaging 50FPS inside the cockpit compared to 30sub with my old 8800GTS 320mb vid card. :megalol: Gigabyte|Q6600|8GB DDR3|GTX285|Win7 64|X-65

madmax59 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Issues by changing grafics Hey supersonic, iґve got the same issue. BS runs with installed graficscard ATI 1950 pro good, after changing the card (now itґs an ATI 4850 with 1 GB ram) and first deleting drivers, the opengl32.dll error message runs on single-player, with the withe screen. Changing and deleting drivers shows no effect, also fresh insallation of BS in another file. Meanwhile i think itґs a result of the copy-protection and only a fresh installation of win would make sense. My specs: Win xp SP 3, C2duo 6600
