Now that Normandy 2 is here, and we have seen some videos, it feels really odd to see the BF-109 in promotional video flying over Paris.

Why there are no French World War 2 airplanes in game?

Because they were not around to fly over paris in 1944.

Still these aircrafts did exist at this time and were operational in other theaters, and btw majority of the missions does not actually follow the historical lines eitherway.

Hence: could we get at least a single french airplane, and what would be the best candidate?

The problem with French planes in 1944 is that many of them had ended up in the torch and/or disbanded after the fall of the Vichy government, in favor of other aircraft, both Allied and Axis. The only "survivals" by was the Dewoitine D.520 and the Morane-Saulnier M.S.406 as fighers, the Potez 630 recon / bomber and some seaplanes, bombers and other types, in various groups, within the Luftwafe to training / transport / liason, but many of fighters / bombers, were transferred to allied forces of the axis, such as Finns, Italians, Rumanians, etc., or to the Balkan front and others, outside of Normandy / Paris / Channel zone. In Free France there were still some more aircraft in service, but they were gradually being replaced by more capable aircraft.

This was indeed great article about french airplanes in second world war, but I disagree that there were just few of them. In fact they were numerous and although played less prominent roles role both on Allied and Axis sides, I would not go and say they are to be ignored. Their presence would certainly make it possible to produce some rather interesting scenarios.

From commercial point of view, I am pretty sure that our french community would certainly prefer them to British or German airplanes.

IMHO French planes would be great if we can get other early war assets. Then again I think we need some early war assets for the I-16,

Or Italian fighters or Russian fighters?  How about the Dutch Fokkers too?  Even if just for AI.  Side note, can't wait to see the roundels for Finland from 1940-1945...
