I have switched my DCS from stable to the latest DCS 2.8.4.39313 Open Beta, but this problem

In the given image, you are outside of Rmax, so you won't get a SHOOT cue.

You need the steering dot to be inside the ASE circle, and be within max range, in order to receive a SHOOT message.

In your screenshot, the dot is to the right of the circle and you are outside of max range.

I don't get it.. isn't my steering dot to be inside the ASE circle?

The MIG is right in front of me, less then 7 NM, just over 12 km away.

And why does the lock often disappear?

The bandit is cold (going away from you) at mach 1, your altitude is low, and your speed is low. If you shoot and the bandit maintains all its flight parameters, you will see that you were indeed not in range.

Well, I did shoot and the bandit was destroyed, no problem with that, I have done it many times.

Still, even with an IL-76, the radar looses very often the lock, and the shoot message appears, yes, but

way into visual range, and shortly. I meant the AIM-120 AMRAAM's could do better than that.... 

In any case, it was not like this about a year ago. Possibly it was wrong then.

I will try with the sparrows.
