JetJake76 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Hello, When I do a cold start at Vaziani Airbase on the Caucasus map, I try to set up the ATC frequency, 140 MHz, on the new ARC-210 radio device. Ufortunately, every time I use the "manual" mode to set 140 MHz, the modulation automatically switches from AM to FM. I use 269 MHz instead, but I would like to ask if it's a bug. Track file is attached to this topic. A-10 radio bug.trk
Solution Recoil16 Posted May 6, 2023 Solution Posted May 6, 2023 (edited) This is not a bug. FM should be the default state between 136.0 and 155.975, see page 34 of MIL-R-29583 (of 1 July 1992, Approved for public release; distribution unlimited, LINK), the specification for the ARC-210 (relevant excerpt below). You can just use the AM/FM button on the radio control head to switch to AM. Edited May 6, 2023 by Recoil16 1 Everybody said: "That's impossible!" Then someone came along who didn't know that and just did it. Flying the A-10C for the 107th Joint Aviation Squadron Developing and creating missions for Through The Inferno Join the TTI Discord
JetJake76 Posted May 6, 2023 Author Posted May 6, 2023 Thank you, Recoil16, now everything is clear. I don't know how could I be so dumb to even start this topic without getting familiar with that radio. I don't have a TrackIR so the AM/FM button is totally obscured by some frame elements of the ejection seat but I still could use RCtrl + RShift + NumPad keys. Anyway, "correct as it is"

Anyway, "correct as it is" Be aware, though in DCS, most other aircraft that use VHF frequencies use VHF AM by default, and most multiplayer servers that use VHF frequencies assume AM as well, so it's still good to know how to switch AM/FM.
