Would be nice if the tanker announced it's about to turn, so you can expect it. It happens so suddenly you can easily get startled.

I understand your wish (you're not the first one asking for this), but fwiw; irl this apparently is (almost) never done.

 

I asked this particular question to Growler Jams on one of his YT videos (awesome channel btw) and iirc his answer was, he had never experienced such a call in his entire career

 

(Not saying it shouldn't be an option in DCS, just sharing info )

If you get practiced enough at AAR this won’t matter to you.

And the boom operator should call the distance while plane is approaching to the tanker like (40 feet, 30, 20, 15, 10).

Following the tanker is quite feasible, I would rather to add to tanker menu requested amount of fuel to be transferred. Also disconnect procedure (probe-and-drogue) could be tuned ...
