DishDoggie Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 The WWII Assets Pack is wanted and used but it needs so much more added to it. Trucks like in the picture would be nice. WAY more Ships too. Look at the Normandy 2.0 Map and think if they added a bunch of the WWII Assets on that map alone into the Official Pack for us to use. Awesome Pictures The Concrete Floated units were Brilliant and So Incredible for their Time and So Over looked in the Ability to get so much on land so fast. That alone aided to win the war was IMO the 1st Major Important step before all other to help win the War. 3
Slippa Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Definitely. Great shots you found there as well. For all the love for D-Day+ in DCS there are some massive pieces of the jigsaw missing, Mulberrys being one of them. As mentioned, Naval assets too. Could do with these, good shout. 3

Walshtimothy Posted July 16, 2023 Author Posted July 16, 2023 I realise my last post may indicate that I am either a Normandy veteran or time traveller lol... to clarify , There are sections of the mulberry bridges and concrete sections remaining in normandy - a very impressive sight - see them here , cheers. https://www.combinedops.com/Mulberry Harbours.htm https://www.ice.org.uk/what-is-civil-engineering/what-do-civil-engineers-do/mulberry-harbours https://www.normandythenandnow.com/a-rare-piece-of-d-day-history-in-this-sleepy-normandy-valley/ 1 walshtimothyWW2 virtual flier - currently playing on 4ya ww2 - youtube channel here https://www.ww2adinfinitum.blog - https://projectoverlord.co.uk/
Slippa Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 In keeping with Walshtimothys dignified clarification, I too would like to state that I am not and never have been, a veteran of Normandy. Whether or not I’m a time traveller remains to be seen though I will admit at present, I do seem to be advancing through time at quite a rate. I’m positively blurry lol. Off the Kentish Coast, remains the abandoned ‘Phoenix Caisson’ a part of the Mulberry Harbours. I’ve seen it many times and it’s bleeding massive, even from a distance. It can be seen off the coast of Littlestone and Greatstone : https://historicengland.org.uk/whats-new/news/phoenix-caisson-in-kent-designated-part-of-the-mulberry-floating-harbour-used-in-the-d-day-landings/ 1

We do a lot together and the best thing is She get's turned on every time I run missions in DCS. Truth is She gets so Hot over it I have to open the back of the case to get better air flow to cool Her down. 3

I wish I could have one. After more than thirty years of it, I just want a nice cup of tea and a bit of peace and quiet. (Don't tell her, it'll only start her off again). We've often said that for those with a keen interest in it, WWII feels like it lasted longer for us than for anyone that was there at the time. 5 hours ago, DishDoggie said: my girlfriend now loves me to death. Mine lights up with dazzling displays if I twiddle with the right buttons. She's terrific near the deck, she gets a bit hot too and well, to be blunt, she does get a bit laggy at the best of times. 2

Thanks for the great pics. If you haven't seen already, ak47freak has now released his mod of the Mulberrys in the User Files section: Mulberry Harbor Assets. Huge thanks to him & the other modders, like Hawkeye60, who look after the WWII community 1
Slippa Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Good shout Ggrewe, cheers, I'm about to take a look. Well done Ak47freak too for working on em. ED should be doing more not less than enthusiastic users. Thankfully, some of us do give a monkeys about the WWII bits so cheers. 2
