I will be adding some static templates to enhance my missions. What I need to know is, if I use them for muliplayer, does everyone else have to have these in order to see them?

I understand about liveries and vehicles etc but I have a feeling about the answer.

So you mean mods? There are two  answers for that.

Straight out of the box, if you put mods into a mission, everyone who wants to join the missions has to have the mods installed. If they do not have them installed, they cannot join.

If you edit the mission.lua within the mission.miz file, you can quote out the mods from the "required modules" section. If you do that, everyone, even without having the mods, can join the server. However, the side effect is that people may or may not see the modded units at all. In case of aircraft mods, they just see a Su-27 with missing textures. I don't know how it behaves with ground units though. 

 

If the units part of the static templates are no mods, all default units, then nothing needs to be done. Once you load the template, the units will be placed on the map like usual and everyone should see it, regardless if they have the template or not.

A static template is used during mission editing and as such they are not needed when the mission is played. However, if the static template employ user Mods, then those Mods are needed by every player (and probably by the mission server too).

Thanks guys for the info. I forgot about the template creator using mods as well within the template. Another thing to think about.

I will have to check the templates before downloading so I know if there are any mods included.
