Does anyone else have this issue: About every 6 seconds or so there is a 1 to 5 second stutter. Sometimes it's just a short stutter, sometimes it can go on for up to 5 seconds. Everything just pauses and then continues as if the pause never happened. It's not like a normal stutter, everything pauses and takes up exactly where it stopped as opposed to the game catching up to where it would be in a normal stutter.

It doesn't matter what map, what plane, what video settings. This has never been an issue before for me and does not occur on other,( more memory consuming) flight sims. I'm pretty sure that it's not in my rig somewhere.  I have been with DCS since Blackshark so I know it's ins and outs.

I have done pretty much everything that I know to solve this. And yes, I did a DCS repair, updated Windows, Nvidia....Yadda yadda......I have given my system specs here before many times and know that it's not the issue.

 Any ideas???

                            Thanks so much.

This issue came with the update before current OB version. Most affected people have recent Intel CPUs. Some of them got rid of this issue by disabling Hyperthreading in the PC BIOS.

Does it also happen in the main menu?

Yeah....I believe that it does happen while in the main menu. Not sure but I kinda think that it does. I'll check into that and get back to you.   I thought that it was the Track IR so I messed with the G, V-sync and all that but no fix. And my rig is around 2 years old so I'm not sure what Gen my CPU is. I'll have to look into that issue.

                                                           Thx!

No E.D. , none of the responses solved my issue since it seems to be something that you guys did, and I have to wait for you to undo. So rather than hold my breath, I will shelve DCS for yet another year or so while I go fly other simulators that actually work most of the time. It seems that I spend more time undoing D.C.S.'s problems than I do flying it. It's the most infuriating thing about this sim.

See you guys in a year or so............

When the sim freezes try a mouse click to end the freeze.  This has worked for me.  And I would be interested if others can do the same.

Hyperthreading is kind of a red herring.  By reducing the number of virtual cores some of the threads are actually executing sequentially rather than simultaneously and thus hiding the underlying issue.

In my prior life experience with scaling multi-threaded applications, I found that all IO activity must be handled in separate threads.  The main threads write the log info to a FIFO queue and the logging thread does the actual logging from that queue.  My fear is that multiple threads are trying to write to the log and or track file at the same time.

Does anybody know how to temporarily disable logging and track file generation?  I would like to test my theory.

Yes, with AMD and no it doesn't happen in the main menu (at least not as far as I have seen: it's a smooth 90 fps - 'CPU bound rendering thread').

I had the same issue, when flying Hind on multiplayer 4YA Syria map. I turned OFF "Shadows" > issue solved. Before I had "Shadows" set to "HIGH" , "Flat Shadows blur" to OFF , "Secondary Shadows" OFF and was getting the 1 to 5 second stutter as mentioned above with the latest update. Although when flying with Hornet on same map with "Shadows" on, all was fine.

I play on 4K, 32gb RAM, rtx3070 8gb, i5 12400, ssd disk
