My wishlist entry: Replace AI 3D models and sounds ASAP with the closest high quality counterpart, e.g. replace Mi-24V with Mi-24P.

---

Is there a rule of thumb for those? The reason I'm asking is that Apache, Hind and F-16 modules were released a while ago and the respective 3D models and sounds for their AI counterparts are still very old.

Also, coincidentally, there's this post

But how do I know when will the models hit the open beta? And what does "(update)" status mean on the first page of the thread?

all 3D models put as new and "update" has into DCS AI units and module directories. Normaly, the module 3D models remove "old" models, and has the last availabe. About "new" I not check if has integrated or not into DCS.

OK, so "update" status models should already be usable at least from ME. I've just replaced those ridiculous (mostly due to their poor damage model/invincibility) Mi-24V in a mission with the new Mi-24P.

I believe only the AI modules gets updated/added when an FF module is released. So I gather those old F-16s are As and not Cs?

Anyway, I don't know how feasible it is but what I wish for is:

For ED to replace AI 3D models and sounds ASAP with the closest high quality counterpart

That sounds strange. I'm pretty sure new AI modules are added to the game along with their FF counterparts.

@Silver_Dragon knows more about this.

Cheers!

I'm not sure what you mean but there is no set rule for how ED updates models.

Some old models are still present while a module of the same type has been introduced (F-16A, F-16A MLU, F-16C Bl.50, F-16C Bl.52, F-18A, F-18C).

My rule as: If the model change to a path date and size, that has be updated, or appears some new.

ED hasn't touched the main AI unit directory for months, in fact, the last major update was around the end of 2022 when rework some wepons and add some other stuff. I check in every patch all the AI unit directories and all the module directories. In fact, what has been done in the last few months is to update models and some new as SA assets pack, in the module directories, not in the 3D model directory of the AI units.

The only official news about AI updates, will coming from the B-52, B-1B, S-300, S-3B and others on progress. And actually none of them has been update on DCS World AI directories.
