Saved Games folder organizing?

I understood that the only way DCS sees the saved missions properly is in that they're placed in the C\Users\Saved Games folder.

Has anyone maybe some tips how to organize it subfoldering internally so that the game shows the stuff to be loaded properly?

On my system i found C:\Users\Administrator\Saved Games\DCS.OpenBeta\Missions containing only Missions, and within that 4 folders. 1 Caucasus, 2 Normandy, 5 The Chanel and Campaigns. About all empty however and not representing my missions folder as shown in the game at all.

Miz stuff i created is found on my separate games SSD, F:\- GAMES 2\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\WWII Units\Missions\CombinedArms\Single.

This folder won't show in the load missions page in the game however. Tips welcome!

PS added: I just made a new added folder 'Combined Arms' there and it shows up OK. However there are far more missions seen than in this folder, probably loaded from some default compressed games folder stored elsewhere?

On the Mission screen, only the first item (My Missions) allows you to select your own missions (located at /Saved Games/Missions/ ), all the remaining items ony allow you to select the built-in missions of each Module

If you want the missions to appear under each aircraft, you need to copy them to the core installation dcs/mods/aircraft/missions etc.

My thoughts too, they wont show when i create a folder in C:\Users\Administrator\Saved Games\DCS.OpenBeta\Missions and put something there.

A very confusing system ... I coul;d not find the stuff i once made for Combined Arms with ww2 assets pack..

Are you login into Windows as Administrator, you bad boy!

No, that won't do it because you put them in Saved Games.
You need to put them in the install directory.
C EagleD DCS mods aircraft A-10x missions single or something like that.

Beware, they might be removed after an update, definitely after a repair.
I use a mod manager to handle this.

I'd be careful with that option, as a DCS repair can delete your missions ... hope you have them backed up

I prefer to store mine at /Saved games/ .. I created one folder for each Module, lik this:

 

 

and within each aircraft I place their custom missions, like so:

Yeah, I know, and I mention it in the second post.
I truly wish ED would rework the system, so we can have a structure like your in the Saved Games and have the missions populate the correct aircraft.

I'm not sure I would like that, as I like that the custom missions are clearly apart from the built-in ones.

We're all different, that's the beauty of it.
I'd suggest we can have it both ways.
Missions under a structure like your won't populate, while missions under mods/aircraft/missions will.
Full control and everybody happy!

That is really odd. Why would it be saving missions you created in the core installation? It's not supposed to do that. It should be putting them into your Saved Games/(Your DCS Installation Name) folder. You can organize that folder any way you want and that organization will show up under "My Missions" when you select Missions on the main screen.

Only with the "Folder Browser" check marked. Otherwise it automatically puts you into Saved Games/Missions. From there you select the user created folder in the Missions folder you want it to go.

That’s my question. Why would the OP be confused as to why missions weren’t saved to Saved Games/Missions, if he selected a different location in the first place, unless there’s an issue of some sort? And the 2nd question is why there are any folders at all in Saved Games/Missions unless he put them there?

As Rudel suggested i put a missions folder in C:\Users\Administrator\Saved Games\Missions

Also in C:\Users\Administrator\Saved Games\DCS.OpenBeta\Missions

Both situations only this shows there, and NOT my stuff i put in these folder:

So i am still confused ...

I can't have suggested that, as the proper path is either C:\Users\Administrator\Saved Games\DCS\Missions

or C:\Users\Administrator\Saved Games\Missions\DCS.openbeta\Missions

depending on your DCS branch: stable or openbeta.

To check where DCS is putting files, start the sim and, from the main menu, go into Options (the gear wheel in the top bar). Select Controls. Select the UI Layer in the drop down menu on the left. Highlight the column for your joystick and click the load profile button. In the window that opens you will see the path to the correct folder in Saved Games along with its name. That's the folder that will contain the Missions folder along with a number of others such as Config, Data, fxo, MissionEditor, Movies, ScreenShots, Tracks to name several. And that's the folder to use. And that's the folder to which you can add additional folders in order to organize your missions. And that's the folder that you will access when you select "My Missions" from the Mission button in the Main Menu.

If, for some reason, it's putting things into your actual installation folder, there's a way to change that but let's not go there unless we need to.

Ah Must try that second one, missed the first missions in C:\Users\Administrator\Saved Games\Missions\DCS.openbeta\Missions as you stated, sorry ! My bad.

But they still won't show alas ..

It ends up in F:\-GAMES 2\DCS settings and profiles:

I put my missions there in the Single folder .... EUREKA!

Now i must get the  whole  caboose in working order

 If it works for you, it works for me.

Depending on how you want to organize the Missions folder, you can add folders to it as you wish and reorganize things however you want. Here’s a portion of mine:

I have to say, though, that your installation itself seems entirely screwed up.

Yep, all well now me thinks regarding file access ... but i am missing a lot of modules and other, like bought helicopters, and ww2 assets.

f.i. i tried to install a Harbor Tug UK civillian ship on the Thames River in the mission editor but all i could select is Tanker Seawise Giant.

The ED site is very unclear about how to reinstall and work with my 'bought' stuff . .
