I'm slowly getting the hang of Black Shark and the more I learn, the more I enjoy it.

One problem I am having is getting the Wingman to obey instructions. I recently created an Initial Point in a safe area and instructed my wingy to go there - his reply was negative !! In another mission I asked him to attack my target again he said negative or unable can't remember which.

On these occasions there is no obvious reason why he does not carry out the tasks, in the above case he had not fired a shot so he wasn't out of ammo.

I can't find an answer in the manual why a wingman would give a negative or unable response ?

Regarding initial points: I take it you send the IP to the wingy via datalink? IPs cannot be used independently, you always have to use IPs together with another target point, otherwise the wingman simply ignores it. So first send the IP, then another target point, and after that tell him what to do at the target point (move to/recon to datalink point, attack targets). The wingman will then overfly the IP and after that turn to the actual target point.

If you just want to order a wingman to move to a certain position, you have to use another target type designation for the target point, e.g. "Other" (doesn't matter though which one). Or even more simple, just lock up the position using the Shkval, send it via datalink without storing it into the ABRIS, and send orders to your wingman via radio.

Repeating the above, initial points are only intermediary points on the way to destinations/targets and cannot be destinations/targets themselves.

Wingmen also have to see your target to engage it. If you see the target and your wingman doesn't he won't be able to attack it since he isn't able to acquire it for himself. Wingman skill plays a big part as to how far and how well wingmen can discover targets.

Many thanks for your comments on wingmen, that explains why I had the problems.

This problem drives me crazy. I have tried and followed all the suggestions I have found, but no luck. In second mission of Georgian oil war, despite spotting all the targets by himself, my wingman replied "negative" or "unable" to all my commands and I finished the mission myself. The funny thing is that when I replayed the saved track of the same mission, he replied positive and followed all the commands he ignored in the original mission :).

I think there is a problem if you have civilian trafic turned on with the latest patch. Mine doesn't do much with it on but with it off he's much better.

:lol:Look what can happen to your tail when your wingman doesn't watch your six!

Yet its a testament to how well built this superb machine is, it flew and landed (just) like this! Try that in an AH64:music_whistling:

But, look at the wingman. He ejected, it seems?
