hyperfighter Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 hello fellow simmers, i downloaded the latest catalyst driver (2009.0203.2228.40314) framerates have a general decrease by 8 -10. game has become choppy. i strongly recommend not installing this release or the one before this (will make the sp game bug when catalyst ai is enabled). and now for some wining: i kinda lost interest in dcs black shark anyway because i have to fix stuff again and again. i am thinking setting cores, VERY unstable server, buggy misson editor. unexplainable crashes, reinstalls reinstalls reinstalls reinstalls, vista reinstalls vista reinstalls another vista reinstall etc etc. bugs when installing up to date drivers again and again no decent administator capabilities in mp. Dull missions that cant even be played under vista (thx for not mentioning this btw, its was a real turn off after i installed the game! first game ever that says u get the full game for xp but only half for vista ), boring multiplayer feature. I am more busy getting dcs to run smoothly then i am actually playing the game maybe ill take a look at it in the next patch (which does nothing about the mp issues, we get some new weapons...great but i rather see the bugs fixed first) but for now dcs goes on the shelf :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
experimental_pilot Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I don't know what you're talking about. DCS is the most stable v1.0 Sim/Game I have ever had. To this date, I have not had a single crash. It sounds like you have problems with your computer more so than with DCS.
Kuky Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Did you uninstall previous drivers properly first, cleaned up registry etc then installed new one? No longer active in DCS...
Mustang Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I've been installing and using each Catalyst driver every month, NEVER get any of the issues that you speak of hyperfighter  Like the others here have said it has to be something wrong on your end hardware-wise, are you overclocking at all? that has the potential to cause instability just like you're describing.

Vista/9.1 here myself and none of that ;) Edited March 6, 2009 by 159th_Viper Minor Brain-Fart...... Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? hyperfighter Posted March 6, 2009 Author Posted March 6, 2009 well it shouldnt be overclocked since i bought the stuff brand new, how can i check?
Kuky Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ^^^ If you haven't touched any settings in BIOS and don't have any utilities to overclock (I'm pretty sure you'd be aware if you were overclocking) then you're not overclocked. You can check if your CPU is verclocked in System Properties (right click on My Computer and click Properties. No longer active in DCS...
JG14_Smil Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Hello, I can understand wanting to vent. If you want help, answer Kuky's question. It would be a good first step. The smart ones know what to ask :)
Vesperatus Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I dont have problems with missions under vista 32bit. I agree that the multiplayer is lacking some options but so far it has been a smooth ride for me. Unless ATI drivers make the game a complete disaster. I use nvidia.
