We wanted to transport various objects by sling load in the multicrew with the Mi-8, and there was massive bouncing/swinging of the load and the rope every time the load was picked up.

The video was taken from the co-pilot's seat, for the pilot himself everything was normal.

After a few minutes in this condition, the attached load suddenly exploded and caused us to crash.

Maybe the weightlessness is back...

Was there ever a bug with this behavior?

A few years back in single player. The cargo was pretty much weightless and would literally sling around until it wrapped around you, (me dead), but you could "fight it", and make it stable. But it was really hard, because you had to do it either by guessing, look out the blister, cargo view for the engineer or F2.
I kind of hope this is the same bug only for MP, because then I will assume they know to fix it.

Cheers! =

Antennae cargo was never fixed. It would actively jump and kill you.

Which one exactly, please? I know we've been dealing with that antenna together, but it's been ages! 😄

I can't remember exact cargo and I can't find that old mission.

Let me comb through files

Edited to add: found it, it turns out it's mod cargo. I was certain it was vanilla DCS cargo.

Disregard.

Attached are the track files from both clients. I can reproduce this bug at any time.

As far as I know it works well in single player but we often have this problem in my squadron in multiplayer not necessarily in multi crew. Synchronisation problem?

We almost always have the phenomenon that the cargo sometimes sways back and forth too much when we fly in MP with separate machines and carry cargo. It just looks weird, but it's never been a problem before.

But in this case, when we fly in multicrew and attach cargo, it is absolutely stable for the pilot, but for the co-pilot it is a rocking and wobbling phenomenon. This also causes it to bang at some point in flight and the whole ménagerie falls out of the sky....💣

One question is this bug reported or not? Could it be reproduced in the trackfiles?

I can provide more trackfiles if needed, that's no problem at all. It would be nice if in 2.9 this could be fixed.

Thanks for the tracks. 👍

The issue is now reported. Sorry about the delay. It's a global DCS issue by the way, since the UH-1 does that too.

Not sure if it's related to this bug, but since the latest updated, slingloading in the Mi-8 in multiplayer does not work for me and others:  Either cargo immediately unhooks after hooking up and the cargo crate starts flickering below the aircraft, still attached. Or the crate simply sinks into the ground plane and does not unhook.  Manual unhook also results in a flickering crate that is visible in F1, but not on F10 map. Tested on Rotorheads server and BlacksharkDen server. Both servers use CTLD to generate crates dynamically.

It does work with Mi-8 in single player, and with the Huey in these multiplayer servers.

This should be fixed in today's update. Please let me know.

In the MP, the sling load is now completely faulty. Both alone in the machine and in pairs or threes, the load twitches so much that the helicopter is destroyed.

Attached are various track files from 3 different users.

I just hope it won't take 2 years for the fix like it did last time this bug showed up.

If the problem is solved by the time the Chinook is released, I'll be happy... no pressure 😅

Issue reproduced and reported. Thanks for the heads up.

BTW, same thing is going on with Huey and Mi-24, so this is more of DCS wide issue than Mi-8 problem

Yes, it's reported for all helicopters.
