Ian Boys UK Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 When I start the Mirage, I think I do the same thing (to Idle at 300+RPM and quick advance and pull back of the throttle). This seems to work 80% of the time and sometimes it doesn't, with not other changes? And if it doesn't light, is there any other way to try again without reslotting please?
Solution Vibora Posted September 6, 2023 Solution Posted September 6, 2023 Just set the throttle to idle (I key), between 300 and 600 RPM ideally. Do not advance it above idle as a normal praxis. 2 Roberto "Vibora" Seoane Alas Rojas [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ian Boys UK Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 It seems that when I do it at 300+ I get cut outs but if I wait to 450 then this method works great. It might be a tiny delay that makes all the difference.
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Does it work again for those who'd prefer to use their physical throttles instead of a keyboard? For me it works everytime moving my throttle a bit for and back to idle. I usually also wait for more than 300 rpm. Even going to idle at 600 rpm works for a good startup. 2
Ian Boys UK Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 (edited) Still not working reliably for me - even starting at 500 rpm. No idea what's up. Outside air temp -8 degrees. Edited September 21, 2023 by Ian Boys UK
Ian Boys UK Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 And is the second plug modelled and the engine venting switch? If I don't get a start first time, I'm unable to try again?

Engine was started with the throttle cut/idle switch at about 470-480 rpm. As you see, the throttle is at idle in the last view. Mirage Coldstart.trk And here's another using the "click on throttle" method Mirage Coldstart 2.trk In both cases outside air temp was -8. I wonder if that's an issue? I remember it was for the MI-24 Hind when it first came out.
fausete Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 (edited) Okay, the problem is that you keep the starter button pressed. You need to release it a second after pressing it or so, otherwise you risk damaging the starter. Edited September 22, 2023 by fausete 2
Ian Boys UK Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 OK, that's interesting. I will look at the tracks again and test that. Thank you. I didn't realise that was a factor. 1

Pretty sure they mention in the start up tutorial that it's supposed to only be pressed for two seconds or so. It's the same in the M2K. 2
