Best way to install the Open Beta?

Perhaps when the Dynamic Campaign can be run online it will be easier for more people to create interesting scenarios. Right now it seems the limited number of populated servers has to do with individual owners ability to create appealing missions on them. 

If beta games are not for you that is fine. We have a stable version that has longer update cycles. 

Open beta is and always will be a public test build, if you want to use it and even help us with bug reports, then great. 

But it is your choice.

Sure, it’s important that this gets done and that people are willing to do it. For myself I simply don’t have time. My limited DCS time only goes towards playing the game. I literally have OB installed to play online with one other person

That’s all good but realize there is effectively no choice if you want to do multiplayer.

The community decided to use open beta, and we understand why, and that is fine with us.

I realize that’s the players choice but it’s also influenced by ED marketing the Open Beta as “Best choice for Multiplayer mode”. That leads new players straight to this choice. Perhaps this is the reason as much as anything. In any case a good portion of your customers are left with no options.

We added that as so many were using open beta new people were wondering where all the busy servers were.

The game needs is more people running servers with the Stable version. I’m sure you know the answer but it seems to me in all likelihood that Stable is actually the majority, they just don’t play online.

Since you need to authenticate with ED servers in virtually all cases (unless you're running truly offline SP), the clearly know the split between OB and Stable for ACTIVE users.  Why you think ED should control what MP servers use (OB or Stable) is beyond me.  If enough MP users were clamouring to use Stable, there would be more Stable servers.  IMHO the majority are OB because that's what attracts players.  In fact, BigNewy's post says it all because the new players on Stable were only finding Stable servers that weren't very populated and needed to go to OB to find busier servers.  So Stable servers exist, they just don't attract a lot of users.

I’m not saying they should control it, that’s really out of their hands. I’m just saying there’s a need for it.

Indeed, there are players looking for just that. 

It is a pretty odd situation. No other game I’m aware of has literally all of its players online running a Beta version.
