What a Monitor, 57" of prime real estate parked on your desk it's like the USS Ronald Reagan just turned up on your shores.

Anyone going to buy one for DCS?

Uhhhh....yeah.  I just last Christmas got "approval" for the 49" G9 lol...somehow I don't think that's happening again any time soon 😄  😄 😄

 It looks magnificent though.

I will say that monitors this big take up a lot of space, so I would suggest some type of VESA mount arrangement if at all possible.  Also, it does take some getting used to...especially when *not* gaming; it's nice to have the equivalent of two 27" screens side by side, but you do wind up turning your head a lot, and for quite a distance.  And, it's a totally stupid software thing...but some apps don't know how to stay put when resuming from sleep/being minimized.  Instead of 'snapping' back to their original left or right half-screen position, they'll just pop up in the middle somewhere or off one side.  Easy to correct but recurrent and annoying as hell.

EDIT: You know, I was looking over the specs for this monitor...it requires DP 2.1 for 'full-speed' refresh rate (240) performance at native resolution...

I'm using an Asus TUF 4090 ATM, and I also have a couple 3090s (eVGA, Asus) and a 3090Ti...all very high-end GPUs...and none of them has DP 2.1 support.  WTH kind of card would you have to have to use DisplayPort with this thing?  Yes, the cards and the monitor support HDMI 2.1, so it would still work...but all this time the standards in monitors are moving away from HDMI and toward DP.  Just look at the ports: Typically 2 or 3 DP but as time goes on, as few as a single HDMI connector.

I got a 48” screen and it’s fantastic. The best thing I ever did not just for gaming but for a home office. It’s such great eye relief looking at a screen this far away, of course that’s also an advantage of a bigger screen, the ability to set it at a farther distance.
But the only caveat is that I think 48” is literally the largest size you can sit on a desk and not be looking up at it. The center of this screen is still at eye level, going bigger than this might be a problem. You’d need to mount a bigger screen as part of a cockpit or something, not just sit it on a desk.
But go big, you won’t regret it!

PS I see this is an ultrawide so its overall height may not be as much of an issue.

Yes. The Ultrawide aspect means the vertical dimension is less problematic than typical 16:9.

This is also one reason that monitors that have adjustable height (both up and down) cost a bit more. TVs typically won't have this, nor will cheaper monitors.

Finally, as I said above, a VESA mount is worth considering. Though not necessary (and not necessarily cheap lol), there are units that are fully articulating and can adjust height through a fairly broad range. I actually got a fairly cheap dual head mount (total something l Iike $50 I think) to use the two mounts combined for my G9...just haven't got that far yet lol

Yeah the experience of setting up a very large 16:9 screen told me that adjustable height is perhaps not essential since for the very large one you’ll likely only want this at its lowest setting. And it’s best if the stand is very sort. Otherwise the screen would end up too high. The monitor is heavy too and it’s important that it not wiggle. At first it seemed it might be odd having a 48” monitor on a desk but I quickly realized it’s perfect. 16:9 means having a bigger vertical size which again means having the screen farther away with less eye strain. I’m at the age where that’s a problem. Big is beautiful. I can’t imagine how I ever used to look at such tiny screens 😆
VESA is cool, I had monitor arms for the old 32” screen. Something to consider is that they can wiggle (especially with racing and a powered wheel). That didn’t bother me but it’s a thing. But they look slick and keep your desk clear. A bigger screen than 32” you’d have to wall mount or get very expensive arms to handle the weight.

My screen size limit was always 32" so I brought an Asus  pg32uqx. 48" would be way to big for me to use.

I have a 3090 which has a DP support of  1.49 so I wont go for it.  But I do wonder how it would look flying DCS.....maybe one day I will go for it.

Well, to be accurate your 3090 should have a single HDMI 2.1A port, which is enough to support what the 57" Samsung requires.

Yeah, I got a wall mount for two monitors to use with my 49. The wall bracket is bigger, and I intend to use both VESA mounts on the mount for the one monitor. Mounted that way, it won't move if the house was to blow over.

Isn't that the new screen that won't run at given spec with any Nvidia card ??

Regardless of that, no current card would give you 240Hz at that resolution in DCS, and no DCS-capped-180 either.

Good point  but you loose G-Sync if do not use  DP?

Still would be cool to have I wonder what the view would look like when flying.

As it stands only AMD's cards can push this beast of a monitor via DP 2.1, cannot under stand why Nvidia wont up the DP on their cards.

They should have done it on the 3000 series  and most definitely on the 4000 series.

Well, that might be true (see below*)...but the monitor we're discussing doesn't support GSync - it supports Freesync Premium Pro.  At least that's what I see in the specs.

* FWIW I have read that there are some rare units that will actually support GSync Compatible over HDMI 2.1...but I'm not first-hand familiar with them.

That's a interesting looking monitor but would be reluctant to switch,( for which my wallet is very thankful!!)

I really like the double wide screens, but for my workstation that is not dedicated to just gaming I like milder curve. Maybe it's a matter of getting used to. I've been using Dell U4919DW for few years now, love it for "productivity", general use and ease of connecting both my own PC and work Laptop. But It's doing reasonably ok for games as well, even if not as curved and not as fast.
