Had some trouble with activation, as per this thread, http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=705361&posted=1#post705361 , got game to load with DCSMAX 1.7.0, after being steered to it by joey45, loaded missions with it, that got me going, but only in a window, so then read manual.pdf and noticed I was supposed to get a menu screen to chage Options, missions, campaigns etc., but can't get it to show.

 

Any idea how to get this working? Thanks in advance.

Nate-IRL, tried that with both DCSMAX and the desktop icon and both gave the "Launcher.exe has stopped working .....etc".

 

Is it any use trying the Activation procedure again, or would that just use up an Activation needlessly? I think you use protect.exe to do that, is that correct?

Its working fine with me in Vista 64.You don't need modman.Try running it as Admin.

Track ir 5 stopped responding

 

I started using this great utility yesterday. It recognizes all cores on my I7 cpu. However, the first time I ran the app it reset my controls to default and now Track ir does not work in Black Shark, with or without dcsmax running. Both green lights are on and the launch exe sees track ir. When I go into cockpit view I get a view looking down ayt the cockpit. No movement of track ir at all. Could my input file be corrupted. Any thoughts on how to fix it? Track ir works fine in all other apps.

If it reset your controls maybe it reset trackir axis assignments too. Did you check under axis commands in the control config?

Yes, the track ir commands are there and they are correct. The unit is working in all other games. When BS starts, the lights on the trackir come on so I think the program iws seing the software. I'm thinking that there was a change of some kind in one of the track ir files in the input folder of the game. I have not searched those folders yet but I wonder if the controller reset changed a notation in an input file disabling track ir. [ex track ir=whatever enables the function]. Very frustrating, especially since this affinity tool at least doubled by fps especially during heavy action. Thanks in advance for any help you could offer

No problem, I'm having my own little nightmare with Catalyst drivers too (new ATI card) I'm never buying ATI again.

 

Question for skypat, could you direct me to some information on how to start DCS.exe with a very simple mission on its own, without first starting launcher.exe.

 

I am assuming mission selection is done with something like command line parameters or a simple cfg file, only i can find it.

Nate--IRL, have you tried the Cat 9.6 drivers, I was having nightmares in this game and iL2 1946 as well, 9.6 fixed every one of them.

I think I've tried them all at this point :) But yes the 9.6s are the least problematic, so I'm using them now.

With the advent of the latest patch, is DCSMAX even necessary anymore for realising and benifiting from multi core systems running W7Pro/64?

No, but it is still really handy if you want to quickly get into the cockpit by quick loading a mission.

Yeah, as a personal note I still use DCSmax as my loader to ensure that I have my TrackIR software loaded and, if I am venturing into multiplayerland, am reminded to start my teamspeak software.

 

Also, it does have advantages in letting you insta-load missions and customize missions on the fly to use the skin of your choice. So while it is no longer necessary to use it to fully use the potential of your multicore processor under Vista or W7, it still has many uses and remains a fine piece of software.
