I'm using

Windows 11 Pro
Audio OUT: Creative Sound Blaster G6
Audio IN: Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen for a XLR Mic
Voicemeeter Potato 3.0.2.8 to mix my audio
Reaper for the VST-Plugins and better mic quality

SRS and Discord are working perfectly!
- All drivers are updated!
- I've already closed the above apps (VA+Reaper)
- Reinstalled DCS
- Cleared my Mods/Scripts etc

DCS keeps crashing

Please attach your "Saved Games/DCS.../Config/vc_options.json" file.

By the way, is the mic test still crashing?

Devs have just identified a problem in DCS with 8-channels headsets. They are looking for a solution.

I see you're using the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, and your dcs.log shows it does have 8 channels:

2023-11-16 23:30:21.211 INFO ED_SOUND (Main): Using 8 channels at 48000 Hz
2023-11-16 23:30:21.211 INFO ED_SOUND (Main): Channel layout: FrontLeft FrontRight FrontCenter LowFrequency BackLeft BackRight SideLeft SideRight

If you have a very basic headset (mic in + stereo out), could you please check if you can reproduce your issue with it?

Don't accept indie game testing requests from friends in Discord. Ever.

In the last patch, DCS crashed anytime I tried to test my microphone audio. With the latest release, the crash issue seems to have been fixed. However, DCS is not detecting any audio from my microphone. My default audio setup is with a PCI sound card. Both my headset and headset mic are connected to this using two 3.5mm jacks. I also have a USB webcam plugged in, but that is normally disabled in the sound control panel.

I tried testing the audio from my headset mic in DCS, and the bar does not move during the microphone test. I restarted DCS and tried the same thing with my USB webcam (after disabling my headset mic in control panel), and I experienced the same result. Both audio sources are working as I can hear them when enabling "listen to this device," and the audio is detected in both Discord as well as SRS.

I also tried toggling between 7.1 audio and stereo audio in the DCS settings while using my headset, and that made no difference.

I was able to get my microphone to detect in DCS only by plugging directly into the headset and microphone jacks on my motherboard. (Normally nothing is plugged into these, and they disabled in the BIOS. I turned them back on just to test if it would work.)

Thanks for your previous feedback. 👍 I'll follow devs progress on that matter and will keep you informed.

thanks, it 100% the issue with virtual sound or with spatial Audio, i can set it ingame off without restart the spatial audio and get instant audio.

I tested it again with the new OB Version. Now DCS doesn't crash on hitting "Start Microphone Test" Button, but it crashes by testing the mic with the radio effects ( Voice Chat Radio Options ).
I'm still using Voicemeeter to manage my Audio-Outputs and Inputs. I've also tested Steelseries Sonar with the same result... gamesound OK but VOIP Chat is broken. Maybe DCS can't handle all my virtual audio devices ?? 🤔

I've sent you dcs.log, dxdiag.txt and the latest zip.

As Flappie said, I changed my Audio-Output in Windows to Stereo. Thanks btw!
I also changed the audio devices in DCS to my Voice-Outputs in Voicemeeter. I wasn't able to communicate on other servers but I tested it with success on my own dedicated server.

Any word on a fix for this, yet? I also have the same issue of DCS not picking up any microphone audio in the menu while using 7.1 surround. There is no audio detected when speakers are set to "auto" or 7.1 virtual surround. If I set my soundcard to "direct mode" (forced stereo) and set DCS to stereo, I can see movement in the microphone test, but the playback quality is quite poor.

I know my microphone and sound card are working fine because Discord and SRS don't have this issue.
