CrustyJim Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Hi Not sure if something has changed here recently - been flying helos for a few months and no F16. In attached track I am easily able to designate the SA8 emitter with the HAD and HTS, find it with the TGP, and then engage it. But when I try to do the same with the FC radar, the HAD refuses designation of the emitter. I have tried this single mission multiple times - sometimes I can designate the FC radar once after engaging the sa8, and then the problem appears. It does appear that the HAD momentarily cues the TGP to the area of the emitter, as I eventually spot the emitter in the TGP. But I am never able to fully designate the FC radar and get the rectangular box around it. Am I missing something, or is this some strange bug? Thanks CJ Unable to designate targets on HAD.trk
Ramstein Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 I too have an issue with the F-16 and the SA-8 in the HAD, it appears, as a red dot, but cannot lock it to fire a harm. I have search for an answers, but so far nothing. Try from a greater range. And separate both units a bit more. Because I can easily designate FC radar emmiter in HAD or HAS mode.
ED Team Lord Vader Posted October 30, 2023 ED Team Posted October 30, 2023 Hi @CrustyJim I asked this to be moved to the Bug section. For some reason, I am seeing the same from your track, but only on that specific track and in Syria. I tried to replicate this in Caucasus but was unable. Just to be careful, I am raising this for analysis internally and hope we can find out what is going on. Maybe a map or mission issue, we'll take a look. Thanks Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
ED Team Lord Vader Posted November 7, 2023 ED Team Posted November 7, 2023 Hi again @CrustyJim After reviewing this report and especially your track, we have found that this isn't related to either the SAM system or the map. In your track, you engage the first SA-8 then proceed to set up a Mark Point. After you do so, however, you do not exit the MARK DED page. This is a recently introduced inhibition based on documentation that when a HTS designation exists, it should be dropped or a new HTS designation is inhibited if, among other conditions, pages like the MARK, FIX or A-CAL pages are displayed on the DED. You do not see the designation being dropped because you switch to the WPN MFD page and to aim your Maverick, while having the TPOD on the other MFD. Taking control of your track, returning to the HTS page and exiting the MARK page you left open on the DED I was able to designate the other target. Re-entering the MARK page again will remove the current designation and inhibit a new one, as expected. This is working as intended. 1 Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
