According to what I heard, the Indians aren't rookies - they had a mix of experienced people and inexperienced people to get the most out of the exercise.

So I guess it goes to show you, it depends on the pilots. ;)

Ok. What exactly did they do in this exercise. What had to be done to announce a winner. Also can please someone post some info on F-15s radar (detection ranges both for air and ground targets, number of targets tracked attacked, etc.) i cant find detailed info on it.

You want someone to post classified ranges? :P

First, the F-15E radar is use for A2G - not the F-15C's ... and the C's are all I'm interested in.

Back when they had the MSA, it was anecdotaly shown that they can detect a mig-sized target at 80nm or so in look-down.

It can simultaneously attack as many targets as it has AMRAAMs (that's up to 8) ... and track many more.

It is unknown what improvement there is over that with the APG-63v2/3/4.

Also, radar is not that important in DACT (it's basically dogfighting, IIRC) .. and that's what the exercise was. High altitude dogfight.

Thanks. Decent ranges and probably the newer radar versions got improved . But I really dont get it how could the Su lost such a fight, the F-15 didnt even have VTC, come oon. I`m telling you that must have been some rookie. I`m expecting a russian - us DACT. Pretty sure the results will be different.

You don't need to tell me ... it IS a pilot thing. The Su-30's in this case had almost empty pylons (in some cases, no pylons ;) ) so they were running clean, while F-15's were running with a fuel tank + weapons.

The difference here is that the F-15 guys had experience fighting the better performing raptor ;)

The data I heard relevant to this fight was F-22 sustained turn rate at 20kft 28dps, Su-30 as it was configured about 23dps, and your standard fighters 14-16, depending on TWR. The F-15 guys decided to use energy fighting instead of turning with the Su-30's.

Aero India is an airshow not an exercise. You mean cope India. Indians "won" because they dictated the rules of engagement. Both "sides" claimed superiority in red flag. So go figure.

- In Real AIR WAR Not One Dictated the Rules >>> And This was an exercise that not goin well to the US side. Remember that the F-15C face the older SU-30UB not the new Su-30MKI. Bad for us is to classified . :(

- In RED FLAG the Su-30MKI flew mainly in the Air to Ground within the Blue Force exercised alongside F-15E, Tornados and F-16. Only using a "LDP" and no IR or Active Missile . Their Radar (NIIP) was off or in training mode. No ECM or Countermeasures was used by the SU-30MKI.

I'll go LOPE some Aim-54s to a MiG-29A and fight your F-15C armed with sparrows. Then we can discuss how the MiG-29A is a super plane for 5 years straight.

India, IIRC, was not given radars with datalink for the R-77 which they complained about bitterly IIRC.

I don't find anything similar in the Internet.

Any prooflinks,

That DACT allegedly did happen in '08, and Su-30's got owned by non-TVC F-15C's.

There's quite the opposite information too:

These are comments by a friend of mine-one of our top grade professional youngsters, and a participant in the recently concluded Red Flag Ex in Nellis AFB.

1. No 1vs1s were flown during the Flag, nor did they engage in Thrust Vectoring(TV) then.

1v1s were flown during the sorties in Mountain Home AFB and that too on the first day only! In none of these exercises were the Su ever shot down or become vulnerable (This can of course be checked on the ACMI Pod films/casettes).

I'll post more and provide links in the Red Flag thread if you guys are interested.

What do you think? ;) Both did, at different times.

You're also looking at some propaganda from both sides ... without knowing someone who was there, you probably won't ever learn the whole truth.

What? I thought all that is written here is truth! I want my money back!

That too.

What I actually wanted to say is that RF leak guy is not a better source than the usual sources of COPE/RF nonsense.

I'll believe you that you know that person, and I'll believe you are saying to us what you've heard, but I won't believe it's the (whole) truth.

So, what's the point of that stealthy F-15 is when it can only carry 4 AMRAAM's? I guess it is good enough to fight against Su-27S and MiG-29S?

As you know Hajduk, the idea is to get first shot - stealthing up helps with this. At the very least, it brings -some- measure of parity.

Also the main reason to stealth up your fighter other than A2A is SAMs. SAMs have traditionally been a bigger problem than other fighters in many cases.
