Hiob Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) Of course you can pull excessive AoA and sacrfifice tons of energy. Why not. Just don't be too fast or you will bend the airframe. Edit: I think the keyphrase in the description of the video was "...with its software alpha restrictions removed" Edited November 20, 2023 by Hiob "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
MichaelJWP15 Posted November 20, 2023 Author Posted November 20, 2023 Yes, there certainly was some very high alpha going on there.. also the airframe was as clean as possible, with not even bare pylons.. Nice to see it done in the F15 though, instead of the usual suspects.. - Michael Intel Core i7 13700K | RTX 4070 | ASUS TUF Z690 | Pimax Crystal | Virpil/Warthog HOTAS

Harry.R Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 From youtube: The F-15QA Ababil is an advanced version of the F-15 developed for Qatar, with AESA radar, a powerful EW suite, additional thrust and new flight control software, among other improvements. It was later ordered by the USAF, where it is known as the F-15EX Eagle II. The upgrades to the aircraft, combined with the fact it is flying in a low-drag configuration with pylons and CFTs removed, make the manoeuvrability in this video possible. Most importantly, the new flight control software has no software alpha limits, enabling the abrupt pulls. So it's flyby wire and has new flight control software that lets you pull like that and not bend the frame.

Theodore42 Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Ok you guys might be disrespecting the F-15E a little too much on the STRIKE EAGLE'S forum!!!! It can't pull it's nose up quite so fast but the engines will still push through any beep-beep, beep-beep like it's nothing: 3 1
