Hi

I would like to assign the slider on the throttle stick of the x52 to zoom view in and out, has anybody managed it without simply using "bands"?

I use it simply by assigning it in-game, no profile. works pretty good for me. The only issue I've seen is when I zoom and stop sometimes I get a little bit of "shakiness" which I can usually cure just by pressing on the slider a little. I'm assuming the shakiness is from a slightly flaky contact.

Hi thanks for your reply

I just went into the in game options and into x52 but I cannot find the slider listed, do you know what it is under? joy_button or....?

I have my soom assigned to the slider, and Im really not sur if I like it at times. But to answer your question, the only way i've found to program the slider is to assign bands to it. I keep the bands pretty small too.

Yeah the bands can be kinda choppy thats why I would of liked it as an axis, dosnt look as though you can though

Yeh I did have the jerky zoom but I noticed its a problem with the slider and or rotary dial on the x52, I went into control panel and the problem is evident in there, at certain points they flicker between 2 points which gives you jerky movement at certain points in game.

Having said that today I noticed that there is a mouse scroll wheel on the x52 which by default zooms in and out... guess the problem is fixed :)

unfortunately, the price of an inexpesive hotas, is cheap parts!..

I think the sensors on the slider, and rotary dials (potentiometers?) are very prone to "flicking" between whole values ... I definately get flickery zoom on the slider in lomac / il2 / black shark , though am used to it now (usually stay stable untill the slider or the throttle axis are moved).

I think it is just an innacuracy in the design of the hotas..but given the price, it is still an excellent product imho

I'm not getting any of those issues anymore with the SST beta software and drivers for Vist64bit

Also i have the rotor 1 assigned to the shval zoom in, out. had to band it.

Snval gate large and small rotor 2 on the X52 throttle controller laser on the st290 pro #4 and reset/on the #5 joy button works great oh and the trim key assigned to the throttle clutch i button on the top and reset trim on the e button. Team speak PTT on the d button

yeah like some part with better quality was 50 cents more, so they decided to just keep the 50 cents, and use the cheaper part. I would rather pay the extra 50 cents. Of course no manufacturer get's that through their head.

That's what happened to the cheap bastages at our automoble plants did, now they are all going out of business. Of course I own Saitek but there are times I can feel the cheapness. So far nothing has broken and I have been using the Saitek sticks for 9 years now.

yeah makes sence, it should be more stable using banding, since , by its nature, the bands are much wider than the actual input ..... maybe I should try a banding solution rather than mapping it straight to axis...

I bound the zoom function to the scroll wheel on the throttle. It does not work as well as the mouse scroll wheel, but at least there is no stutter.

Might be worth the try. ;)
