I've never seen that. I need to recheck my "bda" settings. BUt if player aircraft are causing damage there should be a lua fix for that

I have that all the time when landing, I ignore it for now. Haven't seen anything particular bad happening, though.

I thought I checked and was not seeing it, But I'll check again and look at the ship lua. There are some lines of code that go in the damage section that should prevent player aircraft from causing damage to the carrier.

Welcome to the latest update for Vietnam War Vessels, version 0.5.0. We're excited to unveil the latest addition from Hawkeye60's workshop: the H-2 Seasprite, now revamped and enhanced with fresh liveries courtesy of seabat.

In this update, the CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard proudly displays a weathered flight deck, a realism touch inspired by Tobsen's insights into Blender texturing. We've also addressed issues with catapult smoke on Cat 1 and revamped the deck layout for 36 planes, courtesy of Beldin. Experimentation is underway with an animated meatball, though its functionality is still in development.

The Crusader receives an updated collision shell, and we've corrected the main menu icon color. While launchbar support has been implemented, it's not compatible with the SFM of the plane. Our future plans include developing a customized EFM, though this may take several months.

We're thrilled to showcase a new livery for the USS Maddox, the DD-692 USS Allen M. Sumner, supplied by Beldin, which brings our mod's journey full circle, originating from a WWII Sumner destroyer model.

Additionally, we've updated the README to address some known issues within the mod.

We now offer also a separate livery pack from the base mod. You can either download the complete zip (748 MB), or the base zip (533MB) and optionally the liveries pack (214MB).

Any update on if you're able to share the S-2 Tracker?

As far as I know there are still issues with some of the older mod prop planes launching from carriers. I will try and take a look over the weekend.

But it needs some model/texture work and that's out of my hands. Not much work, but the bomb bay door needs to be animated and something with the textures seems a bit off. But I'll take a look at the aircraft lua and see where I left off.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure other people can agree. I don't really care about the AI functionality or it looking absolutely perfect, all I want really is just an okay looking static to spruce up the carrier deck with some period accurate aircraft.

I’d suggest trying to join some of the various modding discords then.
They are many more “wip” type mods and static things to be found there.
And yes, we all play DCS differently. 🙂

Hi,

unfortunately I just discovered that I broke the F-8 pylons with some experimental stuff, that was not meant to be released. We hope to push out a fix before the weekend.

Cheers,
TeTeT

The model does not really allow for it, we tried it and it looked mostly horrible. So don't expect this feature of the Crusader to appear soon.

TeTeT's Vietnam War Vessels 0.5.1

This is a hotfix release for a problem with the F-8 Crusader pylons. The pylons were fixed, and the pylons on the wings are now hideable.

The hotfix affects only two files. If you have downloaded 0.5.0 already, you only need to get the patch zip: "TeTeT VietnamWarVessels 0.5.0_0.5.1 patch.zip"

As with Vietnam War Vessels 0.5.0, we now offer also a separate livery pack from the base mod. You can either download the complete zip (748 MB), or the base zip (533MB) and optionally the liveries pack (214MB).

Amazing update! Especially the addition of the Seasprite. Is there a skin template available for it? I’m not sure how difficult it would be but a folded rotor static would be a great addition. 🤌

Unfortunately the mesh for the Seasprite textures have a lot of overlaps and a template is not available right now.  Best I can suggest is using one of the livery textures and set up a layout from those.  Folded static is being looked at but I can't even promise the standard "2 weeks".

love the SeaSprite!  it just won't commit to landing & the engine shutdown just hovers a few feet over the LZ on the boats tested BHR, Perry class and the Bowen

That's new as I've seen it land before, but that may have been a version or two ago. I do recall it taking a long time to finally put it's wheels on the ground. Like long enough I thought there was some thing wrong, but then it landed. I'll try and test it over the next few days

yeah the first version didn't have that problem I'm sure it's just something simple in the LUA that got changed. also from air start the gear is missing I was hoping it would appear in the landing sequence but no joy again no touche down also

I'll test mine tonight and see what's happening with it. While the guys have done a great job with the VWV MOD I have slightly different version to match the naming of my other installed mods and play style.

Ok so mixed results with my Sea Sprite. The gear did deploy for landing but helicopter "got stuck" about 2-3 feet off the ground🤷‍♂️. I'll try some older collision shells later tonight. The only thing in the lua I can think of is the landing gear, but I would think you'd see an issue on take off if that were the case. Or maybe something with the weight/flight model. It still did a 20-30 second  "bounce" in the air before it started the final landing process and got "stuck" The bouncing in the air thing has always been there and is not something I've seen with other helicopters. This may also have something to do with the DCS update🤷‍♂️.  But TeTeT is really good about getting stuff fixed so hopefully it won't be long. I'll post an update if I have any luck later tonight.

I found the same issues (before DCS 2.9.5), so I just used some other helicopter.

It would be great if this were fixed.
