Will you be fixing the French Fox-1 placement? Sorry the missile name escapes me but currently they float above the wings. A few versions back when the US version had the sparrow this wasn’t an issue. 🫡

Not sure I can reproduce this? Do you mean the R550 Magic 1?

Looks ok to me on 0.4.1:null

No, the I meant the R530 Matras. I will send a screenshot when I get home from work. 👍I love this mod though and am very great full for everyone’s work.

It seems like the Crusader is officially becoming an only AI model? I know it was intended to be, but now there is no cockpit what so ever. Along with not being able to close the canopy.

Ah never mind, I thought I had overwritten the old version. But they had slightly different file names. My mistakes. 4.0 seems to have no Matras at all, which fixes it in a sense lol

No no, it's my fault - I renamed the plane from 'crusader' to 'vwv_crusader', so it can be found beside the 'vwv_mig17' in the editor and did not think of renaming the cockpit file. You need to wait for 0.4.1 or simply rename the file:

Shapes/{Cockpit_crusader.lods => Cockpit_vwv_crusader.lods}

Then the cockpit shall be back.

The French version really should have a separate/different model. As far as I can tell the French never used the dual rail mount for heat seekers. But just loading one rail is not a bad compromise.  I do have some other LUAs for the French version. They are not officially part of this mod but PM if you’d like to try them.

The French only used dual rails for their infrequent use of Sidewinders.  For Magics, it seems to have always been a single missile mount.

Interesting? I could not find any pictures of the French ones with the dual launchers. But as you said their use of the AIM-9 seemed to be short lived. I did find some pics of the 530 mounted down lower on the fuselage, I think I had one mounted on the lower rail. And I also made the 530 mountable on the pylon even though that’s not correct. But my “F-8s” are a bit different from the Mod here as the one here is focused mainly on the Vietnam era F-8E

Would be possible to tone down the rivets and lines in the skins please?

Short answer is yes.

The original liveries that came with the mod had the larger rivets and lines.  The next update will have some newer liveries with adjusted rivets and lines.

So about the Tracker...... Good news and bad

Hawkeye confirmed that the 2.9 update has broken some prop planes taking off from carriers.

That pretty much sums up the bad. The good news is the S-2 seems to work in all other respects and can use the AWACS mission type and update other units with target data.

I've done two versions of the Gannet. Both AEW and ASW. AEW also functions as AWACS and the ASW can attack ships/subs with torpedoes. There are two models for the Gannet. The standard ASW and one that Hawkeye added the radar "bulge" to for the AEW variant.

Even with the take off bug the units can still be used, you just have to start in the air or on land. Strangely they will still land on the carrier🤔

Can also be used as static "uncontrolled" but I need to sort out the Gannet wings not folding when parked uncontrolled.

I'll post my lua files shortly. I also need to dumb down the sensor range as they both have "modern" radar ranges currently. I believe both of the original mods are from Hawkeye60 so I'll leave it up to him if he wants the original mods posted.

And yes Valkyrie, Cold War Naval assets are looking up. Here's Cv-31  flanked by period NATO carriers. I had to bend the time line a few years and the F-4 never deployed on the Hermes but...... it looks cool🤷‍♂️

So damn awesome! Where does one find the S-2 Tracker? I would love to have that!

Not sure this is a good idea. The new collision shell I just created comes pretty close to the size: 17.2048 meter roughly in length, Wikipedia states 17.059 m. In width 11.46 meter on the collision shell, 10.87 meter stated on Wikipedia.

Given that it is more of a model for AI enjoyment rather than a hi-fi model for player usage, will leave it as is.

In other news, the cockpit for player use of the F-8 just got fixed. The A-10A FC3 cockpit will be  back in 0.4.1.

Well I appreciate the response and the mod! Was just curious!

Thank you

Hi,

unfortunately we discovered a CTD when the F-8 of 0.4.0 and the RC for 0.4.1 is player controlled and starts from flight deck. A fix is being tested as I write, stay tuned for the 0.4.1 release some day next week. Thanks @Chap2012 for discovering the CTD!

With great pleasure I've just tested a new 24 planes on the deck layout by @Beldin. Anyone up for an alpha strike? For now the 24 and 36 plane layouts will be optional for players, they are in the Database folder and can replace the standard runways and taxi script.

Some care has to be taken when placing the planes with the 24 planes on deck layout: First 12 A-4s need to be placed to occupy the port side slots. Then 12 F-8s can be added. As the take-off script will abort when planes try to land, we recommend giving some waypoints farther out for all of the groups.

Here some screens from today's testing!

Cheers,
TeTeT

Hi,

while 0.4.1 is getting testing, time to start some new changes for the version thereafter, the black waterline and red submerged hull areas:

So thanks to Seabat we now have liveries for 6 Essex class refits.

Apparently in 1962 CVA-16 Lexington was re-designated CVS-16 (Carrier, Anti Submarine)

So I did a fictional runway lua for her with 12 helicopter, 8 S-2 Trackers and 12 F-8 Crusader for self defense.

Hello,

Vietnam War Vessels 0.4.1 is out: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases

This maintenance release includes several enhancements to existing assets.

The flagship CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard of our mod now has a companion - generic Essex Class carriers featuring the SCB-125 update, complete with an angled deck and steam catapults. The ship's number is now dynamically applied from a set of textures, instead of being fixed in the model. Additionally, the lower hull now boasts a red coating, accented with a black waterline. Most notably, we've added new runway and taxi configurations for 24 and 36 planes on deck, crafted by Beldin, allowing for more densely packed flight decks. For more details, please refer to the Bon Homme Richard README.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Beldin and currenthill, the main armament of the USS Maddox has been upgraded to engage both ship/shore and AA targets effectively.

The MiG-17F now sports a fresh set of liveries provided by seabat, alongside an updated collision shell that should result in fewer errors reported in the dcs.log.

Similarly, the F-8 Crusader has received an updated collision shell, hopefully improving its performance and reducing log errors.

We also have a discord channel dedicated to the Vietnam War Vessels mod, follow https://discord.gg/P2B63VEZVk

Enjoy,
TeTeT

Great Job!

The 12 A4 configuration is only for IA?

Thanks 😄  I have actually never tested the Bon Homme Richard in a proper multiplayer session, so I wouldn't even know.

As far as I can tell there are still a few issues to be worked out with the Bon Homme Richard to make her ready for player aircraft. Also the 36 plane deck layout has a few issues with how some planes align on the catapults. The 24 layout does as well but they are not as bad. I will try and update the the 36 layout with the better cat alignment from 24 soon.
