Not able to access module despite showing in-game (Open Beta - SP, MP)

Hi all,

First post on the forums, believe I have followed the correct process but please let me know if another approach I can take.

I purchased the F-15 module on Steam in June and have previously been able to access it in game (have flown a handful of times). Recently I have noticed that I am not able to slot into the aircraft in single player or multiplayer. This issue is preventing me from being able to use the module at all, but it appears to be installed correctly in game. I've outlined the details and what I've tried below.

Overview

  • I am not able to enter the F-15E in either SP or MP.
  • On the game home screen, the module is showing as installed and active. I am able to see quick flights in SP, and in MP the slots are not greyed out.
  • In single player, if I try to do an instant action or via mission editor, when the game starts I am looking at the F10 map and only able to view the F-15E in exterior (F2) view.
  • In multiplayer, the F-15 pilot and WSO slots are not greyed out and appear selectable. When I click them nothing happens. If a friend is flying in the pilot seat and I send the request to join as WSO, it says sent request on my end, but they do not receive my join request.
  • I am running the Steam version of the game and also purchased the module via Steam.

What I've tried

  • Deleting my DCS folder from /Saved Games/DCS and letting the game generate a new one on launch
  • Both MT Preview and Open Beta versions of the game
  • Logging in and out of my in-game account via the home screen
  • Deleting all F-15 related content from the /coreMods/ folder and running a steam validation, which re-downloaded 6gb worth of files
  • Uninstalling the DLC from the Steam DLC menu, running the game, and then reinstalling it
  • Searched reddit and other sites for instances of this bug, unsuccessfully

I think I've tried everything short of a full DCS reinstall, which I'm hesitant to do due to the size of the download but can do as a last resort. Hoping anyone can help me solve this one.

Thank you,

Face

I'd like to see if the \saved games\dcs\logs\dcs.log contains any clue.

Reinstalling is not needed - the file validation is enough.

Coremods F-15 folder is for the AI - has nothing to do with the module.

You have Openbeta version and it has 2 possible subversions available to run: ST and MT preview. ST will be phased out in the future.

It would be best probably to contact support directly: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/

btw: Welcome to the DCS forum!

Thanks for the suggestion, draconus. I took a look at the log file and searched for anything relating to the F-15 and found an error line referencing the F-15E-CPT.dll file being blocked by bitlocker encryption. The drive that DCS is installed on is not encrypted, but another division on the same NVME was (nothing DCS related in there). I disabled the encryption of that other drive, and then booted the game and was able to load in fine - so it appears that it's fixed.

TLDR solution: Having bitlocker encryption enabled on the same physical drive as your DCS install will block loading of the required .dll file.

Appreciate your help!
