SCHOOL Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I am running DCS on an old rig and need to go back to stable after trying open beta yesterday. Too buggy compared to relatively good performance on stable. Did the command prompt thing and says my stable is up to date. When I launch, I go to OPEN BETA and usually crash out. Desktop folder also says open beta. How do I get it to default to stable when clicking the icon on the desktop? Thanks... SCHOOL

SCHOOL Posted December 8, 2023 Author Posted December 8, 2023 Not sure why I would get an xplane log in the DCS folder. When I click on the desktop icon, I get pointed to open OB. It says my stable is updated when I try in the command prompt with the correct version #. How do I point it to open stable? missing 1 thing as I did this 2 months ago. Thanks.. dcs.log
Solution Rudel_chw Posted December 8, 2023 Solution Posted December 8, 2023 9 hours ago, SCHOOL said: How do I get it to default to stable when clicking the icon on the desktop? Hello, I checked the log, but unfortunately I can't really tell if you are on Stable or on Openbeta, as at the moment both branches are at the same version number. Having "openbeta" on the folder names is not a good clue, because when you re-install DCS it usually keeps using the prior folders. However, I can tell that you are using the Single Thread version, but your PC has 32 GB of Ram and 4 cpu cores ... may I suggest that you try the Multi-thread version of DCS? .. it should work much better than the ST version. To do a test run, simply runs the file: E:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
SCHOOL Posted December 8, 2023 Author Posted December 8, 2023 (edited) Thanks. Tried it and still super unstable with many crashes. I am on OB because I now get the NVIDIA ad at startup. Just cant find out how to launch stable. Edited December 8, 2023 by SCHOOL 1
Rudel_chw Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Just now, SCHOOL said: Just cant find out how to launch stable. Can you clear this up a bit? Do you have both Stable AND open beta installed? ... as DCS is a pretty large software (particularly if you have many maps), most users only have one or the other, not both. Of course, you can convert Stable to OB and viceversa, but that implies a pretty large download in-between as there are many files different between both branches (probably not at the moment, as they are at the same version release, but that is not very usual). Stable and Open Beta are currently the same version. When you launch Stable it is exactly the same as beta
SCHOOL Posted December 8, 2023 Author Posted December 8, 2023 I reverted to the earlier stable and it is much better.. Thanks... 1
