ouseler Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 I am having issues with objects not rendering properly or are not visible from distance (like aircraft carriers) since I have changed to DCS 2.9 . I have adjusted my resolution from 4K back down to 2K, no change. I have adjusted my GPU settings, no change. I have adjusted my system settings in DCS, no change. These are photos from the DCS F-18C Instant Missions Case I Recovery. Below you can see that the sidewinder is not fully rendered. However, if I zoom in the rendering improves (2nd image). In the third image, I am 3.8 miles from the carrier, but all that is seen is the wake. The carrier should be very visible from this distance. In the fourth, image, the carrier pops into view at 3.3 miles, but not fully rendered. As I get closer, it fully renders. These images were captured after I degraded the resolution to 1440p from 4K. Obviously, that did not help the problem. My System is as follows: AMD 5950X, AMD 7900XTX GPU (and latest drivers), 32 GB RAM, 2TB Samsung 930 EVO Plus SSD, TM Warthog base w/ F-18 Grip, Warthog Split Throttle, TM TPS Rubber Pedals. All my DCS Settings are set all HIGH, I am not upscaling as I find it makes my image quality worse, but I am using MSAA 4x anti-aliasing to maintain good image quality. I would really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on what is going on. System Specs: AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS
Flappie Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Check your "LOD Switch factor" setting. The bigger the better. Default is 1. 1 ---
ouseler Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 Thanks for the suggestion Flappie. I set the FOD to 1, but it's still doing the same thing. I also tried the max setting of 2 and no change. System Specs: AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS
Flappie Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Try this: DCS cleanup and repair If it keeps doing it, rename your options.lua file to "options.lua.bak" (in Saved Games/DCS.../Config). No joy? Then please attach your dcs.log.old file (from Saved Games/DCS.../Logs). ---
ouseler Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 SUCCESS!!! I ran the DCS cleanup and repair and the rendering issues stopped. Thank you for your help!! System Specs: AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS
ouseler Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 Since you are Mr. Fix-it: I have the slider axis on my Warthog throttle that is out of calibration. It seems to be off-center. Do you know if there is anything in DCS that can cause that or is it purely a device problem? Thrustmaster hasn't been much help. System Specs: AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS
Flappie Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 We should check if the problem comes from your DCS input files or not. I can help since I happen to have a Warthog throttle myself. Please zip the Input folder folder located in "Saved Games/DCS.../Config", then attach the zip here. Tell me which aircraft you're flying these days and I'll see if I can reproduce your issue. ---
