Ramires Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Hey everyone, I'm struggling with my Reverb G2. The lenses go dark, starting with the left lense, thereafter both. Depending on unknown circumstances both come back to life and then go black again. Checked it out with MSFS too - same result. I've red that there might be an overheating issue with the Reverb G2. I put an ice pack on the device and it seemed to help . I'd never had such problems before. I have just upgraded my PC to 64GB RAM. Does RAM have any effect on the VR goggles? Is it worth to try a new cable? Thanks
unlikely_spider Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 I've had two cables go bad, so that is worth trying if you can get your hands on a replacement. It shouldn't be a RAM issue. Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1

NahkaSukka Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 I have the same problem. Pretty sure it's cable, tried with other PC and it does the same. Would like to buy Aero, but not sure if i want to invest like 1500€ with the base station. I could buy new cable somewhere, but even after i took good care of the cable it still broke, so i don't have any trust in Reverb cables. This hobby is sometimes so frustrating and expensive.

New cable has arrived. After 15min of playing same happened. Yes I agree. It is indeed.

That's also my fear, that it's not the cable. Maybe headset overheating or something else wrong with it? I hope you could try it with some other PC, so you'd know if it's headset or PC related issue. I would go back to TrackIR if it didn't feel so crappy and unnatural after VR.
Marshallman Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) Change sleep mode in Headset settings to "Never" I had the same wih mine with a V2 cable.....wouldnt wake up, then black screen almost to the point of buying a cable. Also I noticed my powered USB port was touching the 240V socket extension. Moved that away to avoid potential problems. Its now running OK for me Regards Footnote ......Check your plugs PC end and Helmet!! Sorry to hear that! One thing I'm disappointed about is the quality control of the G2. I've had numerous issues and even replaced one complete headset at one point. Sorry Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1
baco30 Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Hi Ramires, I had exactly the same issue (one lens blank at a time, 2" later the other, after several seconds both reappears and so on) and it's pretty sure it's an overheating problem of the cable plug in the headset. You probably can feel that it's warm in the left/up side of the goggle. It happened just 2 moths after warranty expired, HP asked 1000+ € for replacement (!!!). I solved for the time being by making an hole on the frame, put a copper heatsink and an USB small fan... Now the problem appears after 1,5/2 hrs...
