You can use time acceleration ctrl-z (and alt-z to decelerate)

Track replays can be dodgy though. Not sure, but I can imagine that time acceleration makes it even more sensitive to errors.

Oh Thank you!! I have been searching high and low and don't see it listed in the Controls options.

They work fine for me, though the ALT z also brings up my Radeon software sidebar.

Just where is this documented? And is there also a short cut to set it to "normal" ? I  don't see any indicator of the "playback speed"

Thank you again sir!

Not sure (at some point you just know things I guess).

They might be found under UI layer controls.

There's also a key command for "back to normal speed"

On control bindings at options. Lshift + z brings the speed back to normal without any need for time compression indicator, which is good. Anything on screen in DCS should be kept at minimum and optimally zero.

I've set Lctrl + Lalt + X for my nvidia overlay to help against double bindings.

I see it now. Hard to search when you aren't even sure what to search for. I was focusing on "playback"

Many thanks to both of you.

oh.. and those controls also work just normally, when flying a mission.

No need to take a nap if you set autopilot to fly a decent distance.

I found this tidbit in the Mission Editor manual (p42)

Game data/time and acceleration rate of window. This field displays the current in-game
(mission) time and its acceleration factor. In-game time is displayed as day / hours: minutes:
seconds. The acceleration factor is indicated by the letter A. Example: А1.00 indicates normal
time flow [LShift+Z]

So you can check the F10 map to see what the acceleration rate is. The manual needs updating as the map will now show a red (X#) to the left of the time in the upper right corner. # indicates the time acceleration factor.

And while I am sure most consider using the data/time acceleration rate change to a cheat, it is nice way to explore a large map quickly.

For that, you can just use the ctrl-F11 view and then use RSHIFT-* (numpad *) to very quickly "fly" around.

Or zoom in on the F10 map and hit ctrl-F11 to view that specific area.

Time acceleration hits performance quite heavily (especially on older systems)

Thanks for that info.

Fortunately, my system is able to handle the time acceleration.

But those other options for views are good to know.

You can also use WSAD keys, faster with Shift.
