Hi,

My Kneeboard Builder App no longer loads?
When originally installed I had my Saved Games folder on my C drive (system drive, SSD) and DCS OB Standalone installed on my D drive (SSD).
Since installing Kneeboard Builder I have now moved my DCS install to a new, larger SSD which is my E drive
Trying to load Kneeboard Builder results in the following error(s)...

---------------------------
There was an error!
---------------------------
 System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.

Parameter name: path

   at System.IO.Directory.GetParent(String path)

   at KneeboardBuilder.Viewmodels.MainViewModel.BackupAircraftDefaultGroups(String _origPath)

   at KneeboardBuilder.Viewmodels.MainViewModel.LoadAircraftData()

   at KneeboardBuilder.Viewmodels.MainViewModel.Initilization()

   at KneeboardBuilder.Viewmodels.MainViewModel..ctor()

   at KneeboardBuilder.Views.MainView..ctor()
---------------------------
OK

Can you advise please?
Many thanks

On the KB folder there is a "KneeboardBuilder.exe.Config" file, open it with Notepad++ and correct the DCSpath and SavedGamesPath lines.

Deleting .config file, running and resetting paths still results in the same error when Kneeboard Builder restarts???
Can you please suggest a solution?
Thanks

Sorry, if the paths on the config file are correct, then I don't know what else might be producing this, since you say that the problem started after moving DCS to a different drive.

Well… Thanks, that is a shame. Nevermind, just have to make my kneeboards manually I guess?
Is there a formal ‘uninstall’ or is it just a case of deleting the application folder? Is it worth uninstalling (completely & properly) and starting from scratch again with a latest download?
Thanks again.

Unfortunately, NO, I did not 🤷🏻‍♂️And, was unable to get any meaningful advice on the matter!
I found the easiest way to create my kneeboards, since the failure of Kneeboard-Builder, was to create them manually. In fact, since, I’ve found manual creation easier 😎
Sorry I can not be more helpful.

Do you have the Gazelle or the MB 339?  .. I had to delete both in order to get KB to run.

Yes, I have the MB 339. However, I enjoy flying it much more than I need Kneeboard Builder so, will not be removing it!
However, thank you for the tip 🫡

I enjoy both modules too, but once I have my custom kneeboard ready (I write them using MS Word, then save as PDF), I then use the DCS Module manager to remove both DLC, then exit DCS, run Kneeboard Builder and generate the Kneeboard using another aircraft as stand-in, then exit KB, manually move the generated png files onto the correct aircraft's Kneeboard, restart DCS and install those DLC again.

I agree, its a nuisance, but fortunately I edit my kneeboards infrequently, so it's ok for now ... here I have the Gazelle, with my custom KB:

Get Skatezilla's excellent GUI Updater/Launcher Utility and remove the MB-339 module prior to using Kneeboard Builder, then add the module prior to starting DCS. Extremely simple and an effective workaround.
Cheers!

Thanks…
I got Kneeboard Builder before I knew how to create kneeboards manually. Now I know how to build them manually, I find I no longer need Kneeboard Builder.
I’ve also no wish to add any kind of 3rd party module manager. If Modules or the few Mods I have don’t work or cause conflicts I just scrub them!
But, thanks for the response. Delighted your setup works for you

Thanks for your suggestion.
Though, I have no wish to install yet more 3rd party software to manage DCS.
Maybe, I/we should go back to developers of Gazelle & MB 339 and suggest they ‘fix’ the issue so there is no conflict with Kneeboard Builder???
Cheers

Fair enough! It would be great if we had a native kneeboard builder, a native launcher is coming though. Hopefully it will include a module/settings/livery/mod manager down the line. One can hope.
