Mike Force Team Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 (edited) Hello, Heatblur, I have read the promotional information and watched the riveting F-4 videos, that touch on wear-and-tear. I know the Heatblur spent approximately three years focusing on highly detailed systems that interact with each other and simulate the effects of use. I saw the brief description that shows the sticky altimeter gauge, which was well presented. I am saying that Heatblur is making the Phantom as realistic as possible. In turn, this inspired me to ask the questions below. Will the Phantom show external damage from SAM or AAA hits that damage the airframe? I am asking if the modeling will show AAA exploding shell pitting or marring and if it will it reveal any SAM warhead damage. Will the phantom show fluid leaks? I am asking if the F-4 will show hydraulic leaks or jet fuel dripping off the jet when it is overfilled with fuel. Does the F-4 have realistic damage that results from bird collisions? I am asking if the F-4's modeling is likely to show shattered windshields, damaged radar housings, or blood smears from birds that hit the jet. Does the Phantom show the effects of extreme cold temperatures on airplane performance? For some upcoming maps that include extreme cold, the freezing weather can affect the older jet's startup, flight systems, and other components. JayTSX Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Written a bit weird tbh but anyways... If I remember correctly the UH-1 has this "functionality" as starting from Battery is much harder, if you set the environment to the-day-after-tomorrow-cold, so coming from that it should be possible and I'd guess, that HB will implement it at some point. Regarding the birds: I always have the setting on max but never encountered anything like a bird strike so either the engine is not really implementing it or every module so far didn't care, would be an awesome feature though... I think the Warbirds have leaking (?) So maybe? Unless ED decided it's too advanced to give it to 3rd parties... Also a great feature, which I'd love to see and also think should be doable to some extent. 1

JayTSX Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 In a matter of we don't want to share, what cost us money to develop... But that's just a guess and I'd be happy to be wrong in that regard
Grimleo Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 (edited) Actually, is the damage model detailed like the WWII warbirds or is it using the less detailed original DM? Edited February 20, 2024 by Grimleo

Realistic setting is 100. And during around 500 flight hours I had a few bird strikes, always in low alt and probably only in FC3 aircraft. The birds themselves are not visible. Those you can see otoh have no collision model. 2 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

The X-Ray damage model is only used for WW2 warbirds as of now. It's not been ported to the jets yet. 1 Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
