DroptheHammer Posted March 10, 2024 Author Posted March 10, 2024 so... ok I get it.. maybe the old super bright blue cursor was a major nightvision destroyer (especially in OLED VR headsets like my Bigscreen Beyond). But why black? especially at night? for everyone? Can we not just get a daytime and a nighttime cursor that are reasonably colored or let us choose the colors? This one is silly. Steps taken so far to resolve.... Repair, Slow option, clean all extra files. FXO and Metashaders directory delete Display Drivers removed and reinstalled via DDU to latest nvidia driver. WIndows mixed reality removed and reinstalled Still black cursor. I also tried to replace it with YOLOMOUSE which does work in 2D just fine to replace the yellow cross cursor... but it does NOT replace the cursor in VR. That cursor remains black even though the Yolomouse software has selected and implemented a replacement. rob10 Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 That's currently a ST VR only bug. Has been reported, but like any ST only bugs it may or may not get fixed soon (likely depending how easy it is to fix) since ST is nearing the end of it's life. 2
Flappie Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 @DroptheHammer I read in your other posts that you say you're using DCS MT. Please attach your dcs.log. ---
DroptheHammer Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 Attached... although it's the log I can get to remotely since I'm at work. There are mods installed in that log, but all savedgames mods. Also, my bug is the same for both a clean repair and a modded install. this log was from our mission night the other evening. I was able to fly the Mirage using the flashlight to highlight the cursor. dcs.log New Setup : 13900K, Asus ROG Strix 4090, 64GB of DDR3600C14, 4x 2TB ADATA NVME, HP Reverb G2, Virpil Alpha on WarBRD, Virpil TM3 throttle, Monolith External Amp, DT 1990 Pro Headphones & TrackIR v5 Old Setup: 12900KS @ 5.5 , EVGA FTW3 Hybrid 3090, 64GB of DDR3600C14, 4x 2TB ADATA NVME, HP Reverb G2, Virpil Alpha on WarBRD, Virpil TM3 throttle, Monolith External Amp, Philips X2HR Headphones & TrackIR v5 Old Old Setup: 9900KS @ 5.2, EVGA FTW3 3090. 32GB of DDR3866, 3x 1TB ADATA NVME
Flappie Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Thank you. I see you're indeed running MT and DCS is up-to-date. So far, you're the only user reporting a black cursor in MT. I don't know how to help you. I highly doubt that purging your "fxo" and "metashaders2" folders would change anything, but hey, it's free. You can give it a try. ---

Astralnut Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 (edited) I have a green cursor in MT and a black one in the normal exe. I use SteamVR since Opne is not supported. The black curser in non-multi threaded is really bad and can't be seen much even in daylight. Edited June 11, 2024 by Astralnut 1
plott1964 Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 For Pete's sake (whoever Pete is..), why is this still an issue in ST VR mode? ED please fix this problem. Is it really that hard to fix? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 19, 2024 ED Team Posted July 19, 2024 Hi, sorry it has not been addressed yet, but I would suggest using the multhtreading version of DCS. In the future ST DCS will be removed and MT will become the default. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? TopoSolitario Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Minor update, as the controllers are still not working, I desabled them and it seems that in MT I've got the cursor working in green/yellow again. In my last reinstall of the game, the cursor went black when I activated hand controllers, so I'll keep them inactive for now.
Byzantine_SK Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I’m using ST (old) now in VR as opposed to MT as I don’t get stutters this way. MT is non stop stutters around several assets on the ground. MT used to be my go to…

You can check this by lowering your mouse polling rate to 500 Hz. ---

The mouse speed is set quite low, 250 HZ because I don’t like it whipping around the screen.

Hmmmm... dcs.log 62.61 kB · 23 downloads This is because Steam will always run the ST version if you use the DCS.exe file directly, even if using the one bin-mt directory. You can't use shortcuts like that. You have to start it from your Steam library, ensuring that Multithreaded Preview option is set. On 5/3/2024 at 8:10 PM, tushkanov said: SOLVED !!! For Steam you have to run it from within your Steam library. The only reason you're probably seeing a difference is that you're forcing OpenXR, vs. MT which is OpenXR by default.
